Oem 19"rays with spacers

Wondering if 20mm spacers will work in the front with the sport rays? I know the backs are fine but with the v2 spacers I heard they won't work for some reason.

valpozguy 04-28-2012 02:48 PM

Yes they will. I have them on mine,

Did you have to make any mods to the wheel or studs?

valpozguy 04-28-2012 04:57 PM

Yes extended studs you can get the whole kit from z 1 motor sports

They will make the stance so much better. Wheels should have came a little more out from the factory.

yes, no need for extended studs. bolt-on spacers will work.

edit: as long as they're at least 20mm

kenchan 05-01-2012 10:40 AM

if the car came with the slightly shorter studs. some Z's come with slightly longer studs and for that, you may have to grind.

no, found this issue in same model year. looks like some Z's are running studs from either different manufacturer or from different lots.

valpozguy 05-01-2012 11:22 AM

Do it right or don't do it at all. extend the studs!

lol, if we're talking about right vs. wrong... the "right" thing would be to get wheels w/ the proper offsets.

bolt-on spacers (from a reputable manufacturer) are fine for daily/spirited driving. a LOT of drifters use spacers w/ no issues.

ATL_Red_G35 05-01-2012 01:16 PM

Though I have a 350z, I have 30mm spacer in the front and 20mm spacer in the rear. Hubcentric with built in studs.

if you get conservative offsets you can make more adjustments vs buying aggressive offsets and hope it's right for the car's geometry and the kind of driving dynamics expected. there is so much you can achieve with just adjusting offsets.

I'm talking about wheel studs!

i have nothing against stud replacement type, btw. i like those cause you can get like a 25mm setup and use any thing from 3 to 25mm if you have open lugs (for aftermarket wheels using tapered lugs).

bolt-on types are just as safe if installed correctly, and more convenient just as long as there are cavities between the lug bores on the wheels...which the stock wheels dont have much of on the front.
