higher speed bassy booming drone

370z s/p with Potenza RE050A 19'' 285 rears, starting at 95 and increasing up through 110 there is a loud bassy booming drone ..
never heard that with 350z 18's even at 135 cruising.

is this typical? will the pilots or continentals make any improvement?

How many miles do you have on your current tires? Most likely they are cupped as nissan does not send the cars out with a decent factory alignment. My nittos did the same thing.

um, sort of new tires, about 2,000 miles. this is an
effect in the 100mph area, not driveway zone.

It is true that worn tires make a drone sound; I had
that on last car on worn tires in the 20 - 30mph range,
which went away with new tires.

I had it bad at hwy speeds and got worse as I went faster. I'd get mic your tires and see if they are cupped....chances are they might be if thats the sound you are getting out of them..

droning on

just did oil change, ~ 5k m.. no cupping or wear found.

maybe it's 19'' ul wheel resonance, perhaps some other tire will help?

seems like this should be typical or not at all, unless nobody drives over 95

'round here.
:ugh:

lower profile tires are noisyer than your general passenger type tire. The 19's i notice noise when I turn sharply at low speeds and when goin on on ramps and such. It is just the nature of the beast.

they are loud and only get worse as the tires age.
