The dreaded has happened to me.
 

So I said it would never happen to me, but it did. It was a rainy day today and I decided to take my car out anyways. Well I had my AC on, stopped at a red light, and turned it off. Instantly my entire windshield fogged up and the light turned green. So I start driving putting the AC back on frantically. End up curbing my rims.

So my questions is, is there any easy way to smooth it out so I can paint these rims. Since they are pretty much garbage in terms of value now, I'm just going to try to smooth them out and paint them. The damage isn't horrible, just around the outer ring.

Any advice for smoothing the Nismo rims?

Don't paint them, contact the dealer and they should point you in a direction to get them re surfaced. There are a few options for you to work through besides painting them or buying new ones.

yeah you won't need to paint them. if you can find a shop that's good with working with wheels then they can fix it up for you.

They can be touched up while still on the car if you can find someone who knows what they are doing. I had it done on one of my sport wheels over a year ago for about $50 and the spot is still hard to notice although I could touch it up again.

Over time the hyper silver on my wheels has chipped here and there so I'll probably just get em powder coated again which I got quoted for ~$100 a wheel.

hmm maybe I'll try to do that. What kind of place should I look for to resurface them? A paint shop, a body shop?

We have a place here in San Antonio called WheelsAmerica that does resurfacing for $130. They have locations across the US. I would look into a place like that. They did a great job on my curb rashed rim.

A body shop or a wheel specialty shop will do it for around $50-$150 per wheel, depending on the finish.
I had it done before on 3 aftermarket wheels and the total was a little less than $300, but after it's done, you can't even tell that you ever curbed your wheels.

Sorry to hear that. I'm a bit confused, how did your car turn off? Was it related to the A/C shorting out or you just stalled?
