Confused about tires
My Z has about 9000 miles and it time for a new set of tires. Recently, I went to Discount Tires and the sales person wanted me to replace my front tires (225/45/18) with (235/50/18) has anyone had the same issues and if so what did you end up doing. The tires they wanted me to purchase are Nitto/ NT555.
Sincerely Colorado proud:tiphat: |
We are not the biggest fans of Nitto around here
a much much much better option for around the same money would be the Hankook EVO V12 thats wider and higher profile tire, shouldnt cause any issues though -VJ |
I have Nittos on my Mazda3 DD... def a different beast but I love them... traction is great (low torque traction at least) and the wear has been unbelievable... they look like they are practically new after 35k...
These are the ones I have NeoGen Also mine are on 18s but much narrower width. |
I'd say they are clueless. Nitto 555 is a drag radial. You don't want to put tall floaty tires on your car either.
You would want to go to 235/40/18 if you want bigger. Nitto NT05 is better choice with nitto, but there are better tires. hankook rs3 is awesome, Dunlop direnezzia star specs are great too |
how did you burn your fronts out in 9k miles? Rears is EASILY do able but fronts? Plus stock front tire size is 225/50/18 so not sure if you got it mixed up or not.... Im goin with a 255/45/18 when i swap tires on mine. Wider plus tire circumference is almost dead on as stock. Goin with 275/40/18 on the rear. That one is exact same circumference as stock 245/45

I'm okay with the Hankook V12's on treadwear and volume, but in terms of grip, and especially cornering. I have to say they're garbage. They break loose very easily at not even high speeds in corners.
I would highly recommend Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Great traction wet/dry, aside from a flood. Awesome cornering Improved treadwear over the PS2/RE050 (stock) Quieter than stock |

Stock: 225/50WR18 (front) and 245/45WR18 (rear)
My Setup: 245/45WR18 (front) and 275/40WR18 (rear) 255/45 up front is a bit much for the stock front 18's. It will fit though. |
