370z MEATY TIRE THREAD
I may be looking too far into this but maybe someone can enlighten me.
For rear Nismo wheels changing the stock 285/35/19 over to a 305 everyone says to go with 305/30/19 but that doesn't make sense if ur doing it for traction because u may gain about .79 inch wider but your loosing overall diameter -2.04 inch or -2.4% circum. so it's a wash from what I gained going wider. but 305/35/19 u gain .79 wide and gain 1.73 inch or 2.1% circum. and that's less of a difference or change then oem size so your speedo would technically be more accurate with the 305/35/19 even tho it's a small difference but that means slightly more meat.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...131996b4e4.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...94e4a65a29.jpg all the percentages are less of a change for 35 series tires |

if diameter measurements are your concerns then run 265/305 the diameters are identical 26.3 in RE-11's. |

diameters aren't really my goal, it's for now while I have stock wheels I'm looking for the most traction possible for the rear for when I f.i. my z.
idk where I was reading it about going from 285/35/19 to 305/30/19 isn't as much grip (in a strait line) as u think because of the loss of circumference. obviously when cornering it's better. only options I can find on the calculator are 295/35 but that's such a minuscule difference and there more expensive or 325/30 and those look like they would be amazing but I don't think it will work in the 10.5 rear nismo wheels... any thoughts aside from new wheels cuz that won't be for awhile. I plan on using PSS tires |

305s fit damn good on my oem sport wheels. came in handy this past weekend at zdayz when running the dragon and all the nonsense roads down there lol |
can only get 315 in drag tires.
Tire rack shows the 305/30/19 Super Sport tires to be 12.1" wide (307mm) and 26.3" tall. It shows the 295/35/19 Super Sport tires to be 11.9" wide (302mm) and 27.1" tall. width is almost the same but wouldn't there be more acceleration traction with the 295 because of the taller sidewall and only a 5mm difference in width? |

but at that point it's splitting hairs. i'm also a fan of RE-11's over PSS's anymore after I realized how much stiffer the sidewall on the re-11s are. |

yeah I know, I'm always splitting hair's on my hobbies lol. but for me the pss is a better choice right now because it's my dd and more of a well rounded tire also better in rain. I live in sw fl so rain is almost an every day thing in summer. once it's not a dd I may switch to the re-11s they look like a much better track tire |

also in these sizes 265/305 they have worn much better than 245/275 PSS which the inside 3" disintegrated on me at 12k miles. I had about 14k on my re-11's I just took off and the rears were still above the wear bar a bit and the fronts were still at 7.5/32nds and they come new at 9/32. ocd though and I changed all 4 for the dragon lol |
