Gah! Stupid curb. Curb rash repair in Central Illinois?

Learned my lesson about being extra careful with a Z in a drive-thru today. Managed to catch a curb and put a nice 6" streak of curb rash on my rear driver's-side rim. *#$@!

I've read pretty good things about many of those mobile wheel-fixer/refinisher people. Problem is, I can't seem to find any online that service the Central Illinois area. Thought I'd call a couple of local call dealers tomorrow to see who they recommend.

It's a long shot, but anyone here live in the Springfield, IL area know of any reputable place/guy-in-truck that can buff out a bit of curb rash?

Wanted to update my old thread in case anyone finds it in the future...

I found a guy that does wheel repair & refinish work for car dealers. Met up with him at a local dealer about a week ago. It took him all of 15 minutes and $50 to repair the rash. Did a great job, wheel looks brand-new again.

If anyone in the Springfield, IL area needs a guy to repair a wheel, PM me and I'll send you his info.

Glad you got it fixed to your satisfaction! Every day when I pull into the garage here at work, it's pucker time. After the security arm goes up, I've got to make an immediate 90° turn to the right. It is impossible to see the curbs, and I know it is just a matter of time before I hit one of them.

mr.gurney- i would visually mark a spot on your car (maybe the decorative curve of the hood) to something in the gate area and aim for that each time.

i do this on my cars when parking perfectly in my garage. i am within mm each time.

op-glad to hear your wheel's fixed!

Yep. I've learned my lesson about curbs in the Z. :shakes head:

While I fully intend on not hitting any more curbs, at least I've learned that it's not terribly expensive to fix a little minor rash.
