Looking for better handling than sport
Hi. Newbie here.. I'm Robert. Nice to meet ya. I just bought a 2010 sportster base w/12K miles on it. Tires need replaced like yesterday. Right now I feel every crack and every bump in the road. It's crazy. Makes it difficult to drive honestly. I immediately turned in my car to an audio shop to get a better stereo and speakers so I'm driving a rental car which happens to be a Camry. Driving the camry is like riding on a cloud. Driving the exact same roads to/from work in the camry you'd think I was in an airplane compared to my new sportster. I bought the sportster for the convertible aspect as well as the power but I'm not a young gun looking to drag race or be stupid with my car. So in choosing new tires which ones should I get that lend more towards comfort and less sport? I hope this makes sense.

First, you purchased a sports car. It will never ride like a camry or the like. As for tires, I would like for a standard all season tire. Not a performance all-season, just a regular all season. They tend to have softer tire walls and help with absorbing bumps

goodyear RS-A's are what they put on the infiniti versions of the Z's so that might be a good option... they are an all season with a softer sidewall

Yeah, you need to go to the Tirerack website and put your Z in there. The site will help you choose tires based upon what is most important to you - ride comfort, quietness, handling, etc.
Not to pile on, but you did drive the Z before you bought it, right? That should have given you a hint as to the ride and noise levels. I promise the Z "handles" better than a Camry....and it certainly rides worse. Last edited by WhiskeyHotel; 01-27-2012 at 10:12 AM. Reason: Add |

Continental DW are probably a good choice for a more comfortable summer tire.

check your tire pressure level when cold (mornings before you drive). set it to 35psi. chances are your tireshop over pressurized the tires. as for comfortable sporty tires i recommend the continental DW's. |
