So I took my car to Goodyear today to have them look at a leaky tire. They found a nail in it but said it's to far to the side

So I took my car to Goodyear today to have them look at a leaky tire. They found a nail in it but said it's to far to the side for them to patch up. They also said I should have my tires replaced because they are really worn down but I only have 12,000 miles on them. Is this usual or are they just trying to get some money out of me? __________________ If you're not first you're last!
