Weight is not a figment of the imagination or a figure of speech; it's a form of measurement. Mathematically there is NO way that wheel can be 17lbs.

The setup is beautiful. I really like how clean it is but please do not feed forum members the BS that a 6061 T6 aluminum wheel at these widths with the back pads required to clear brakes on that forging will weigh what you're stating they do.

how the heck did a 20inch three piece mesh wheel come in lighter than my 19 inch TE37SL...

19x9.5 te37sl : 20.4 lbs
19x10.5 te37sl: 20.8 lbs

NBS's 20inch 3pc 'race prepped' wheel: <20 lbs

O_O

I knew this would start a wheel weight war .. I should of taken a pick of the wheel on my scale .. Yes..... It's the same scale I use to weigh myself ... Nothing fancy ...

not a war, it just doesn't come to be very easily that a bigger wheel is lighter than one of the lightest wheels on the market. they are what they are...and besides, how awesome would it be to see a 20 inch rim sitting on a scale reading only 17ish lbs haha

call it...a search for information

A big claim like that will draw scrutiny. You had to know that.:o

I have pics of a 19 x 13 mesh weighing in at like 19.2lbs... Blaine's is a 19" center so with it being narrower I know it was in the same ballpark... Even if his scale is off by a few pounds that's still lighter than a TE37!!!!

NeverBoneStck 01-03-2012 06:13 PM

Maybe my scale is really forgiving ...

Yeah the mesh is the heaviest center of any brand... For some brands it's up to several pounds heavier. Also wow370 your comparing apples to oranges... Step lip wheels are much lighter than flat lip wheels. Race prep on these wheels can also make a huge difference! Also different style faces weigh differently... There is a lot you can do to shave weight without sacrificing performance. Blaine wanted a light wheel similar to his Volkswagen design he had before and guess what he got just what he wanted and more with the extra lightness of race prep! These are light wheels and they are a lot light than my 370z wheels! Lol
