Default Why no love for Falkens?

Hey guys,

Just curious why I don't see more Z owners sporting/discussing Falken tires. I did a search and out of 7 pages, maybe saw a few for sale threads, mainly Falken 452

Seems Hankook and Conti dominate here, besides going higher end Bridgestone

Falken seems to be a very capable, sticky and also attractive looking tire. Is it just because they have limited options? I won't pretend to be a tire expert, I've owned Falken's on my Prelude many moons ago and Yokohama S-Drives on my Lancer

So just wanted to get some input from some with more tire experience....

I'll be in the market soon...leaning towards Conti DW based on things I've heard members like Mr. Kenchan say but the sidewall is truly unattractive

Well first the Azenis don't come in 19's. If they offered those in in 19 and up to 305's then they would be used on Z's much more.

Falkens are the cheapest Japanese tyres in S'pore.

ahh ok, so its the options...I guess the 452 are their entry level then...

I have couple friends running Azenis on their S2000 so that seems to be the one to get...if it was available

A basic observation, although this is gross generalization:

1) 370z owners typically have a little more cash on hand. Therefore, they'll buy higher-end tires. It's more common to see RE-11's, dunlop star-specs, etc. in the sub-200 treadwear group than the falkens. See tirerack for details and testing results.

2) If wanting solid grip with good treadwear for day-to-day use, you're more likely to see Michelin Pilot Super Sports (or PS2's), Goodyear F1 supercars, or other very expensive models.

3) Remember that you ALWAYS get what you pay for.

4) You should lose sleep BEFORE getting the tire, rather than after. (Hard decision before, lots of research vs. being concerned about sub-optimal tire choice)

5) If you're going to actually race the car, consider a second set of wheels with actual race tires. Expensive, but then you're getting the best of both worlds. Sometimes the perfect tire choice is actually "perfect tire choice(s)"

No, the main reason why some of us pick the RE11, Star Spec, RS-3, etc over the 615 is because it is simply a faster tire. The 615H narrowed the grip, but so did the price and not so much lap times.

Falken owner here. Too many people on here get caught up in tires when they drive their car 1 a month to the movies or around town. If you track or race or have a deep bank go for the nicer stuff, but I am a broke student and went with falkens and I beat my car up everyday they are fine. Better than Nexxen lol

I was wondering the same question. On other forums, the azenis are a very popular choice of tires

I recall I had slapped 4 new Falkens ZIEX ZE-502 on my Lincoln Mark VII LSC and they were pretty good, especially in rain But I have not used Falkens on any other I had since then...
