When you're stretching tires that much and running a lot of negative camber there's no reason to spend extra cash on "good" tires. If you already know you can't get traction or take turns for that matter then why spend more money for a better tire? You're only using a small contact patch anyways

I guess youre right. When there is an inch separation from the edge of the rim to the bead of the tire it really doesnt matter what you run. Any brand tire automatically becomes useless/retarded. I honestly cant believe a shop would let someone do that.. cant be safe.

Mike-
Honest question... When you say drive responsibly, what do you mean by that? I have seen people at local drift events that I have attended with tires like that. I always try to keep my tires a size compatible with the wheel, but what would make this safe? Is there some type of bead-lock similar to what 4x4 folks use that would keep the bead of the tire seated? Sorry if these questions sound ignorant, I am just curious to how this can be done safely. |

Driving on a setup like this is more of a low and slow mentality... you are not performance driving on a setup like this. If you do you will risk the tire failing prematurely or coming of the rim. The same goes for over sized tires. I reccomend following the tire manufacturer specs. However, a knowledgeable tuner/driver can drive on stretched tires without major problems... I have driven up to 15k miles on stretched tires without incident. Its called being responsible and not pushing the car to its limits or trying to push the tires to the limits.
I hope this answers your question
