Rim Color Opinions Needed

Okay guys, here's a chance to help with a color choice.

I've got a 2011 Gun Metallic Touring with Sport Package. I'm either going to upgrade to Nismo rims or keep my current Rays. Either way, I'm planning to eventually paint my rims.

I'm leaning towards painting them the color of the 40th anniversary Z. Where I'm undecided is whether to use gloss or satin clear coat.

I definitely do not want black, so that's off the table. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

is your car a dd? if so you might prefer gloss as it's easier to clean the brake dust off. also if you wax your wheels, satin turns pretty glossy. :D

i would also suggest buying the 40th wheels new from one of the vendors here. :) im sure you can find a local buyer for your stock wheels if you choose to sell. i'd keep it though just in case you have a flat or something.

I have a 2011 GM also. I am planning on putting a bronze colored wheel on mine. Something like the attached color. Hope that helps.

Gloss gunmetal on the NISMO wheels would be nice.

As long as you've got a clear coat, they should be about the same in terms of cleaning them.

I'd go either satin gunmetal or bronze. I like the wheels to contrast a bit, and the satin gunmetal might be just the right amount of contrast for a nice subtle look. Bronze is more "in your face" but looks excellent.

nnnn... not from my experience. matte has some level of texture where the dust gets trapped. satin finish is easier but satin and matte to me is different. satin is like semi-gloss.

Personally I love the sport rays so I painted them my self but I used a custom color than I made my self. There are a couple of pics in my album but nothing on the car yet since I'm on snows at the moment. My car is GM also, I think dark colors work best with it. Bronze would look good also. There is a lexsus black pearl that poped like crazy next to GM color code was 217. Look it up
See if you like it.

Hope this helps, I just painted mine 2 weeks ago. Since then I have the tires/brakes changed and they held up fine. I sanded them bare, 2-3 coats of etching primer, 2-3 of duplicolor wheel paint then, 2-3 coats of duplicolor wheel clear. Came out awesome but its A TON of work
