Look at how tall the tire itself is, IMO this will not be a viable option for people with low-pro tires, or larger wheels. Think about how rough the ride would be if they cut down on the lattice like material on the inside.

Got my stock Bridgestones plugged about 2 weeks ago. Only had about 700 miles on them at the time. It was a screw in the mid section of the tire so it should be fine.

To make you feel a little better about your RE-11
I purchased my current set of Re-11's used. It's a great deal because they were less than half the $ of a full set and already worn to 6/32nd (the depth you shave tires for motorsports).
All four tires have professional patches, some fairly close to the side wall. I have done half a season of autocross and two track days with no issues.
