Tires down to the cords, time to swap to winters

It was a good run for the year, sliding around and doing a few burnouts. Traction and braking is starting to get bad at night when it drops to 40F. I washed up the Rays in and out with wheel cleaner, but I can't seem to get those black pits that seem to be really stuck on in the barrel. Any suggestions? I even started trying to pry them off with my nail.

Anyways, front tires have about half life left and rear's should be good for another 30 minutes of fun at the parking lot once Spring comes back. I really envy Cali weather. I can't stand how tucked in the winter rims look.

my dd has snow tires on now. LM60's.

I inspect my tires frequently with a tire tread gauge but I figured I'd just run with them cause I burn through tread quickly. I burned through half my tread drifting around for 2 hours in the summer. I did a few burnouts just to run them down to the ground since the cords already showing.

oh ok, so it was a controlled environment... of sort.

I put mine on. Blizzak LM-60 mounted on 18" sport edition A7.

note: the rears are quite sunken in...
...but I don't know enough about spacers to get some...?

take a snap of the inside of the rear wheels and post it up. (will need to remove wheel from car) it will tell us if the wheel disc has voids (cavities) inbetween where the studs go. if so, you can use 15mm spacers in the back.

Those pics tell me you have some alignment issues. Look at the uneven wear. Unless.... you're doing some serious "cornering" (?):stirthepot:

It does have those cavities, like the OEM sport wheels do, but they were a different shape than the OEM wheels. I had to remove an extra metal stud on the front rotors, for example, because it wouldn't fit in the new wheels' cavities.

no alignment issues. it's just that i tend to always turn left on drifts. so there was more rubber burning on the rear left.
the trail marks left on my block after some burnouts were uneven. the left side didn't smoke much, and sparked a little according to my friend. the right side burned just fine

i dunno the offset on my winters (maybe ~+35) but they are 18x8 and 18x9. even with a 25mm spacer in the back, it's still sunken in. you'll need an aggressive 40mm spacer if you want flush wheels in the back

Pretty fun time of the year, everyone putting on the winter battle gear haha
