alignment question

General rule should one always get an alignment after buying new tires..

frost 11-04-2011 08:33 PM

I think most would say yes, but my personal opinion is, unless your old tires wore unevenly, you don't really need it.

if the tires wore evenly, no real need to. changing tires doesn't change your alignment.

I always have the alignment checked when mounting new tires. If it is out, then I have the alignment done. I don't know of a tire shop that charges to check alignment.

IMO, it's pretty cheap insurance to make sure everything is correct from day one. I don't feel like peeing a bunch of money down the drain. Our tires wear out quickly enough.

:iagree: A good tire shop will look at tire wear for evidence of uneven wear which could suggest an alignment problem but they will not put your vehicle up on a lift and hook up to alignment equipment without charging you.

All (or most) shops in my area do free checks.

As everyone has been saying, get your alignment checked with the new tires. Chances are you won't need an alignment but most shops will at least throw in a free check with mounting and balancing.

I defiantly would. I always get on every six months reguardless. Especially when running aftermarket alignment kits and supension

I think its more important to get it done right after you buy any new car, as most come from the factory a little out of whack, especially Nissans, but getting it checked with tires is a good idea.

well i didn't won't to get it done at my tire shop. didn't really trust them
just a filling. i looked at my old tires and they wore pretty good...

iv'e got an appointment for next week at the dealership.. but i think i will cancel
it and save the 80 bucks. when i was on the phone with them they had already tried to sell me a part they said i might need for the 370.
