Default how do you buy tires?

I am waiting on my SL and in the meantime, I was wondering how and where you guys buy tires.

1. Buy them from Tirerack and bring them to local shop to mount&balance (they only charge $10 each)
2. Visit local shops or discount tires, and buy from them. If so, do you have to put special order or do they usually have them in stock? I am looking for 265/35/19 and 305/30/19 Hankook V12.

Thanks!

I typically search around online for what exactly I am looking for in a tire. I check expected mileage, sizing, reviews, and performance rating. Then I just buy them through a local tire shop because they will rotate and balance my wheels at no charge if/when they need them.

discount tire mostly since its easy to have them replaced if you get the road hazard warranty

for me i send a quick email to alex@tirerack.com to place an order and then spend half a day driving out to tirerack and just buy my tires and have them mounted there. they are great. nice team, very good service.

op- when you have your tires mounted locally make absolutely sure the shop has a touchless mounter. otherwise expect mounting marks all over your new wheels.

Do discount tires have touchless mounter?

you'd need to check with the shop. not all of them do. ive heard some shops like even the discount store costco has touchless mounters.

also check your local speed shops, body shops, and wheel repair shops. a lot of them carry this equipment these days.

most of the time tire shops can order what you need with a few days and theyll mount and balance them. Some places wont mount tires you bring for liability purpose. Price what you want first then see what they charge. You can tell them you found the tires for this price and theyll work with you I bet.
