Wheel Spacers 101

Just an FYI for those with spacers, Discount/America's Tire will no longer work on your car with spacers (unless they're bolted onto the wheels), because they cannot guarantee proper torque when putting the wheel back on.

You have to remove the wheel yourself at home and take it in.

I read this entire thread, and purchased 20mm Z1 spacers (front and rear) for my 09 370z and installed them last night.

It would have been helpful, if someone would have mentioned in 15 pages that you need a 12mm for the bolt on the front wheels. :P

Question for you all, sorry for piggybacking....in running 10.5s in the rear with a 22 offset and i want to run a 10mm bolt on spacer/stud so i dont have to go thru the headache of installing new studs, anyone have an idea of brand or have a link to certain ones I should use

No, it wouldn't. I took my 21mm thin wall socket and torque wrench to meet a friend who had slim jack I needed. I did not bring an entire tool box or socket set.

There is no mention in 15 pages of "yeah the bolt on the front wheel assembly is a bolt holding a sleeve against it, and it comes right off with a 12mm". No one even mentions anything about it other than a bolt being there. lol very bizarre.

Fairly standard with parts etc to have a "tools needed" even included in the product description. Such as the post MAF tubes.

Oh well, FYI to future wheel spacer buyers..the bolts on the fronts screw a sleeve against the assembly, the bolt is a 12mm and the sleeve falls right off after the bolt is removed. No need to remove a rotor or anything else.

Yes but you need to remove the 12mm bolt first, otherwise you cant fit a 20mm spacer on the front wheel assembly.

Or you could bring the entire tool kit - I believe this is an implied necessity.

i use a pair of FIC's on my other car. they're like 200 a pop though for the 10mm, but hubcentric one piece (has lip unlike kic's 10mm).

check ssr's site.

double check that your wheel disc has voids between the lug holes. otherwise your stock stud will hit the back of your wheel disc.

here: you'll want the 66 center hole with 12x1.25mm

Hey guys, quick question, I just need to re-torque my spacers once after I install them after XXX number of miles right? I don't need to re-torque the spacers every so often do I?

Would just retorque them after a few miles.

I actually never did even that , but I haven't had an issue in the 25k miles since.

i use loctite blue on the spacer lugs and let them dry overnight. ive never had issues of them backing out on their own... nor issues where they would seize up from the loctite. i can remove them with hand tools.

obviously i dont use loctite on the lug nuts that hold the wheels. i just retorque after driving 10miles or so. repeat a few times just to be safe.
