I found this on my wheel about a week ago it looks like a chunk of tar. I have no idea how to take it off with out messing up the paint. Any tips?

goo-gone or goof-off type stuff.. maybe a degreaser. But whatever you try read the label and make sure its safe for the wheel.

you can use gasoline on a rag.

i personally use RC car motor spray/RC nitro engine cleaner on a paper towel. :)

+1

I wouldn't use anything caustic.

If it's tar just use a little olive or canola oil and a soft paper towel.

<-Gets tar on feet all the time from surfing and olive oil always does the trick

You can use turtle wax with a cotton towel. Or a clay bar with lube.

gozfast 08-10-2011 09:30 AM

careful

WD-40 takes off tar well and absolutely won't hurt your paint. Goof-Off is pretty aggressive, solvent based and will melt some paints and most plastics, however Goo-Gone is mild, citrus based, doesn't hurt most stuff and works pretty well. Car wax and a rag would take a long time if it's thick and stuck on there.
