1/4 Tires! What to get?
All right guys! I am new to this area so I wanted to know if someone could point me in the right direction. I typed in the search bar drag radials but nothing came up. Okay my car is N/A with blah blah blah mods. My car will have RE-11's in about two weeks. Now there is a local club in my area that is doing an event soon and they listed a few tires that are accepted to run in the event.
DOT approved street tires example Nitto’s NT555R, Mickey Thompson ET streets, or Hoosiers QTP. Note: TIRES MUST BE DOT APPROVED. I would assume if I get some of the listed above I should go to a smaller rim than my Ray's correct? Experience, would help a lot in this as to I don't know much about what to get. I do want to run in the event as I am 1 out of 3 imports in the club as to a bunch of Camaro's and Trans Ams. So should I upgrade and if so to what? Or should I just stick with my RE-11s.

Yes most of those tires you listed will only fit 18" wheels or smaller.... maybe look into Toyo R888's they will fit your Sport wheels and give you the track tire with the grip you want...

Thanks for your insight. So do you think these are pretty comparable to the above mentioned tires and a good buy?

I am actually looking into these as my track tires since I will be running my sport rims for track days, I have heared good things about the grip.... But like anything I am sure you can find something bad about it..

What kind of track do you run? If you do decide to get these let me know what size you get and how the experience was. I won't be home till mid Sept. so by then I am sure I will know what I am getting.

Toyo R888 held high HP for me very well in my 350z, but not so much on the launches.
one thing you can do is have your alignment done to remove most of your neg camber in the rear, that helps with launch traction about as much as the tire you buy. especially if you have wide *** tires, all that extra width isnt even on the ground unless you get your camber flat. also, a really good clutch helps too... because if you setup the car to hook up amazing, it doesnt have enough HP to pull thru the launch without bogging unless you do a hard slip on the clutch.... stock clutch will not last long like that. |

mt et street 2's are insanely good for 1/4.... mine gripped so much i was never able to perfect the launch in my 3 passes with them... dumping clutch from 4k stilll had the car bogging, tons of grip!
