Tires for stock wheels

My front is 245/40/19 and rear is 275/35/19. My question is if I can put any wider tires in the rear and if so, how much wider? Would there be a disadvantage ?

Some guys have squeezed 305s on theirs. Continental was out of the 305 series with no firm arrival date, so I went with the 285 series.
