For my girlfriend.. ;)
Might throw them on the car like this lol jk..was intended to just be the base coat the black is going to go over lol.

SPOHN 07-10-2011 12:44 PM

Are you going to get some daisy center caps too?

JACKPAC 07-10-2011 12:54 PM

You should color match your side mirrors.

christian370z 07-10-2011 12:54 PM

Apply some flower design vinyl to the trim, slam the car and you will be able to infiltrate the Vdub scene unnoticed. That said, pink CAN look passable if the rest of the car is equally crazy:

I was actually gonna go down to Walmart and get some badass pink flame vinyls to put on the doors

Blue..lol My new wheels are coming soon so we were just messing around with these. I'm going paint them black and use them as track wheels.

frost 07-10-2011 01:49 PM

Lol, they would probably look good on a black car. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...f?t=1241920069

Econ 07-10-2011 02:48 PM

Wow. That's a bright color. I think I went blind for a few sec ... and should've used masking tape...I can see where paint hit the tires.

That was just overspray dust. I'll update when the black is on.

Zerafian 07-10-2011 05:02 PM

those photoshopped Ts1's on that porsche are awesome...maybe thats a real pick....but stock rims powdered coated pink on a blue 370 look awful. Maybe if there were some aftermarket rims with a lip they would look good, like those TS1's

If you like it though thats all that matters.

FL 4Motion 07-10-2011 06:01 PM

as long as you don't have them "hellaflush" or whatever that is where the wheels stick out six inches from the body of the car, I say eh, whatever.

christian370z 07-10-2011 06:25 PM

Check out Speedelement's 335: same color combo

Gramlights > painted OEM Rays

cossie1600 07-10-2011 07:09 PM

If you are willing to paint a set of wheels that is worth $1K, you got to respect that.

I can respect it if it's done properly.

Shoving index cards around the edge and rattle-canning them isn't what I would consider proper.

Single stage or powder coat would be the only ways I would do it.

After that one dude spray-painted his whole Z out in his driveway, suddenly spray-painting track rims seems like an okay idea.

shaun66 07-10-2011 10:42 PM

Those look REALY good.

Waiz 07-10-2011 11:34 PM

Ha!

Thankfully that's just the base coat!

ZeeingAround 07-11-2011 08:33 AM

Show the topcoat quick. My eyes are burning.

Need more info on this.

Are you talking about the guy that flat-blacked his car?

Yea... that was a terrible idea, I concur.

samb03 07-11-2011 10:03 AM

I have seen guy in the hotrod scene use a paint roller. Take rustolium and thin it down with mineral spirits till the bubbles pop on their own. Roll and let dry. It looks good for a couple years but for a less than $50 paint job it looks pretty good.

phelan 07-11-2011 12:16 PM

i demand to see these mounted as is for lulz

Econ 07-11-2011 12:38 PM

would look better if you lay leaves and branches over the rims, then used yellow paint to make a pink/yellow camo theme.

thats what ill prob do next ;)

:hello: Okay so I drove around with these on one side for a few hours... I've never had more people stare/laugh/smile/point etc. at my car lol.. I was a little bit embarrassed. Anyway.. Here is the pic you requested lol:icon14:

This is what a 370z with pink wheels looks like..

It's really difficult to take a good picture of this color for some reason.. Looks really washed out in this picture.

You obviously have never met a person that knows how to properly use a spray can. It's all about prep and the amount of time you're willing to put into the job.

I know we are talking about wheels here, but I've been toying the idea of repainting a guitar with a rattle can. Here's a few examples of how good you can get a spray painted finish (with proper prep and wetsanding)

Just saying, don't knock spray paint. Knock the kids that can't properly use it.

Gungrave 07-11-2011 01:51 PM

If it was a chicks car then you could work it. Would just have to throw a little more pink on the car lol

It is not that bad in my opinion, not something I would do personally but props for putting your cajones on the line.

lol Thanks. I'd probably get shot if I showed up to the track with these. My city is full of import haters..and pink wheels would just push them over the line. I'm hoping the black turns out good. There were a lot of rough areas in the tight spots of the wheels so I'll need to sand them down before the next color

Now is the time to take it to the track. Make sure you talk with a Long Lisp too.
See how many lose to the guy with pink wheels.

BTW,
You are certified crazy and must have a Ball bra to carry those around.

TypeOne 07-11-2011 03:42 PM

LOL

I guess I retract my previous statements.

Winning.
