What is the Best Performance Street legal Tires?

DWS is an all season tire, S means 3 seasons. It is not a real snow tires.

I believe I said this in an earlier post. The RE11 is a great performance tire except you have to deal with the $1200 sticker price and a 10-20K treadlife.

Well, it's not a dedicated snow/winter tire, but the S does stand for Snow. The plain "DW" is their closest competitor to tires like the Michelin PS2, etc, from earlier in your list, and it's rated 340/AA/A (as opposed to the DWS at 540/A/A).

I can't stand my Ventus Evos... the sidewalls are so soft it makes the car sway in the turns.

I won't be buying them again.

I just placed my orders of RE-11 thru Tire Rack yesterday and hopefully I'll get them mounted sometime this week. I'm super excited.

Originally I placed the order for 265-35/19 for fronts and 285-35/19 for rears but then I got a call about the front going above their recommended settings and the traction control might get thrown off because of the significant tire size difference. So I went back to the stock front setup 245-40/19 instead.

I think I can live with the stock setup, maybe later I'll try something different. I am not at the pt where I can drive without VDC on. Plus I'm already upgrading the handling/grip performance with these RE-11 from the RE050A. Forgot to mention I also upped the rear to 285 from 275.

Why didn't you go with 265/305?

RE-11, PS2, AD08's (in that order) whoever picked the Hankook V12 as a best performance street legal tire is not well informed to say the least and has never driven on a good set of tires.

And you made a great decision going with the 285 rear scruffy. That setup has awesome balance and the TC gets used to it and doesnt freak out after a few minutes of driving.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Would 265/305 mess up any electronic readings (i.e. traction control, vehicle speed reading, etc)?

When I was on the phone with the Tire Rack guy, he told me that since the size in outer diameter is off by enough, it may throw off the car computer. Any thoughts?

Yea, sorry about that...i was trying to do as much research as possible. The Poll is different than the Thread title.

Maybe I can do another one another day now that I have learned more about tires. For some reason I couldn't modify the poll once i put it in the Forum.

When I started this thread I thought the only tires we can available on the discount tires website. And then after visiting Tire Rack, I found out there are so many other brands...then I found out that we can also put tires that uses a different width (i.e. mount a 265 on a 245 stock).

I just want to say a big thank you to all the people helping me through this. I hope others who have also ran into the same dilemma finds these posts useful as well.

305 on a 10 inch rim is a stretch for a street car, plus that is a lot of tire for some skinny front tires. these tires grip so well that you will be amazed at what it can do. once you get more comfortable driving the car harder, you will see the drawback i mentioned. as for the vdc, i honestly dont think it will like your new tires much. you will see it kick on at tight turns a lot more or even under hard acceleration

At the moment, my new set when I switch out all 4 will most likely be RE-11s. I've actually never driven on these tires before but the reviews praise them consistently and high. As for what I've experienced, Toyo Proxes are my current fav and I haven't ruled them out yet. I'll truly decide when the time comes for the change of all 4 tires.

If anyone has any thoughts on Proxes, which are not on the list, let me know! I had Proxes on a boosted FWD application so there might be something different in respect of our Zs.

I'll chime in on my Nitto Invos... I've drag raced on them, street driven them since October, and took them on the Tail of the Dragon. The grip has been fantastic! It was hard to break them lose when I was NA. Even with the added power of 506whp, they are hard to break lose in 2nd gear when they are warmed up. There hasn't been too much rain in FL since October, so I can't comment on that aspect.

R1Rs are good in their own rights, but I am not sure if they make any tires in 19s
