Would 285/35/19 all around be bad for daily driving? I plan to track/autoX the car twice a year.

If I drive my car on twisties on weekend drives...would you recommend me to do 265 instead of 245 for the fronts?
are there any disadvantages if i went with the 265 instead of 245? |

your car wont turn if you stagger the tires too much. if you want to keep it small, keep the back small too. wider tires=more grip, but you start to lose steering response if you go too big. the fronts are limited by wheel size, not tire sizefor the most part
285 front will dumb down your steering feel, car will probably track harder, and stretch slightly over the recommmended size |

Which of the following would you recommend if I were to go with the RE11? Option A) <--I think this is the same setup in width as the Nismo Front: 245 Rear: 285 (Since they don't offer 275 for RE11) or Option B) Front: 265 Rear: 285 (Since they don't offer 275 for RE11) |

hmm, for the fronts RE11 don't make:
265/40-19 So what should I get if I want to keep the 265, should I go with 265/35? or something else? What is the second number and what does it do? The stock for front is 245/40-19...RE-11 carries that size, but I was curious to go with 265...help please? |

I want to chime in and say thanks for starting this thread and for all of the replies thus far! It has been very helpful to me! I landed on this thread because I'm looking to get new tires too. I'm on the stock RE050A and needing to change out my rear at almost 25K miles. My Z is a daily driver (for now) and I do a blend of both city and highway living in Orlando.
I wanted to leave a thought on my similar scenario. Considering I'll be changing the rear tires 2 to 1 of the front tires, I'm going into the second half of life with my front tires. I'm going to bump the rear up from 275 to 285 though my front will remain as the original, stock 245. I think this should be fine since this is what the NISMO Z is running. I will probably get another set of RE050A since, logically, you would think it should wear out near or at the same time as the front so then I can swap all 4 at once. Ideally, I don't want to run a brand of rear tires different from the front for maximum performance and safety concerns per tire design. Just to give a little background on my intentions, I plan on sticking with the stock rims and do not plan on getting any spacers since I will eventually get new set of wheels. I might be getting a set of coilovers in the near future though. |

Nicee I was also thinking about going with the 265/35/19 and 285/35/19 setup on my nismo. The only thing I'm worried about is the treadlife of the RE-11s. I got about 20k out of my stock advan sports in the rear. Will the RE-11s last as long as that? I rarely track my car only once a year if that.

Also, the post title and poll title aren't the same thing. The very best performers are expensive, and there's some better value tires that come at a fraction of the cost for only a small cut in traction performance. That's why I'm running the above-mentioned Conti DW. So my answer to your two questions would be different.
