Stock. I thought about going wider with the rears. But deside to just keep the size stock till I TT next year.

There's the problem -- RE-11's are not made in the stock sizes.

What exactly would make the tires not street legal and how would they be able to catch you if you're using racing tires on the street?

They are not street legal if they are non-DOT approved or are specified for off-road use only. Cops may not know you have them on, but your insurance (or the other guy's) company will not be very happy with you if you are in an accident and you are wearing "racing tires".

It's like speeding, only illegal if you get caught.

Embezzlement and murder, too.

Sorry to cut in on your thread, but I am looking for the same info for my particular application. I have learned a lot from this and other threads and did some research into tire sizing, but still have a few questions. I am running the stock 19" sport wheels with no spacers and currently have the stock RE050 tires on. They still have a little life left on them but I have 27k miles on them and want to get something with better grip for the next set. My 370 has been my primary daily commuter and is almost all freeway miles, with just a couple track days/autocross on her. I just bought another commuter car so the 370 will become more of a fun car now. I still don't want to change my wheel setup, but want stickier tires for both autocross and track days (just a couple times a year). I tried to find Nitto NT01's or Toyo RA1 or R888's, but it looks like they don't make them any of them in a size that would work well on my 19" wheels. I have narrowed it down to Nitto NT05 (in 275/35/19 all around), RE11, AD08, or Hankook Ventus V12 (cheap). I don't mind paying more or dealing with noise; grip is the primary concern. Of these choices, which would you suggest? Can I really run up to 285/35/19 all around on my stock Sport 19" wheels without rubbing?

The easiest way they would catch you is after you wrap your car around a tree when it sprinkles:roflpuke2:

Still no Goodyear F-1 on the list.

issforged 06-08-2011 12:04 PM

i just put a set of Goodyear F1 Supercars on my RX7 FD

by far one of the best street tires i've ever driven on

pricey but worth it

other than that, i'll stand behind Hankook EVO V12s all day and night

our customers love them, and we love them!!

What tires sizes would you guys recommend for RE-11 on sport wheels with 20/25mm spacers?
I was looking at getting 265/35/19 front, 285/30/19 but when i input in on the tire size calculator i get a warning message? the front is 1% difference in size but the rear is 3%. Scared it might mess with my vcd

cossie1600 06-08-2011 03:09 PM

285 35 19 in rear

I'm thinking of giving the RE-11 a try however, I realized on Tire Rack's website the Rears don't come in the stock size.

I intend to not do any mods to my car in terms of suspension, spacers...I have the Sports package wheels...what size should I be ordering?

So far I was able to input the front ones as:
245-40R / 19

But what should I get instead of the following size on the RE-11?
275-35R / 19

cossie1600 06-13-2011 10:54 AM

if you track or autox your car, use 285 35 19 all around

265 35 19 and 285 35 19 if you just daily drive your car

scruffydog 06-13-2011 11:06 AM

i do both but I have another commuting car.

I'd like to go on weekend drives and i like to drive it a little more aggressive and i plan to take it to track several times a year.

So I should do the same width (285mm) even for the front? It fits? I thought the front wheels are 1in shorter in width, no? Please forgive me for asking questions like these, I really don't know much about wheels.
