RE-11 Tire Pressure lb's
Well I have had mine on for about 700 miles now and they are amazing tires. I just had them changed from air to nitrogen and on my drive today (85 degree day) they only went up a half a pound after driving mostly highway with a little city from 35lbs to 35.5 I guess nitro is great for leveling out the cold to hot tire temps.
Here is my main question though. I know my old stock (sport/touring 370) tires had very little tread left and they would let me know every crack and tar strip in the road which was a bit harsh but i prefer performance over any other aspect of a tire. My new re11's feel a bit softer (definitely quieter but i don't care about that). I know i have a bit more tread but I'm wondering if i should bump the pressure up just a bit for a little stiffer tire feel or if it's all in my head. Previous tires - stock sport/touring tires at 35lbs all around 245/40/19 front 275/35/19 back New re11's - 35lbs all around 245/40/19 front 285/35/19 back If you are running these tires and same size what are you running yours at? |
Personally I would up the rear slightly to balance out the car as you have too much tire in the back and too little in the front.

It kinda feels like there is a little more sway when changing lanes or taking a on/off ramp spiritedly then there was with the stock tires but there is a loooooot more grip now...maybe the re11 have a slightly softer sidewall or it just could be that i was used to not having much tread. The steering in a straight line doesn't tramline as much and isn't as twitchy anymore either...maybe bump the fronts up a pound also??? |
I've played around with the pressures in my RE-11's a ton and like 39f/37r (when hot) for street driving, YMMV. Its worth mentioning that I have 285's on all 4, which has some effect.
