Broken Lug Nut Questions

So after getting my sports wheels damaged while the tires were being taken off i decided today to check all the tire pressure and re-torque all the wheels since i figured they probably messed up on it too. Turns out all my wheels were at 45-50psi and all lugs over torqued. one of the lug nuts thread inside was completely stripped when i pulled the lug nut out the part that was stripped was stuck in there and looked like a spring. My question is do you guys know any lug nut company that would sell a single lug nut? I have drag steel lug nuts on right now. Also the lug nut still can stay in there without being able to unscrew with just your hand so I'm keeping it in there but is it safe to drive spiritedly and occasionally sideways with only 4 lug nuts torqued to thee correct specs (front wheels lug)? What are the possibility of my stud also being stripped?

You should be OK , Don't know if I would get agressive though. Go to your auto parts store and they will sell you the stud/lug nut that you need. It is best to take a lug nut with you, be sure to try the nut on the stud that you buy!

I wouldn't be going sideways with only 4 out of 5 but average driving should be okay.

You can pick up individual lugs at an Infiniti or Nissan dealer for about $6 each, just call first to make sure they have them. Online you can get 10 for about $36.

Check the thread on the lug, if it appears damaged then replace that too.

Man, you're not having much luck with wheel related stuff lately, are you! If you haven't completely lost confidence in your friend's uncle's shop up till now...well this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Those yahoos should be paying to replace your stud(s) and nut(s) that are stripped due to over-torquing, but I wouldn't trust them to do anything else to the car.

Ya I absolutely gave up with that shop, I got no respect from them and no support from the friend that recommended them so I'm NEVER going there again i just need to find a better shop around here.

Yeah the tuner lugs you will have to get a whole set unfortunately.

Here are a couple of good threads on tuner nuts that people have gone with:

I'm getting a set of Project Kics R40 when I get my new wheels.

These are the once I had Best Deals on Drag 12x1.25 Neo Chrome Open End Hex Chromoly Extended Lug Nuts everything Ive read so far pointed me toward getting steel lug nuts only. I know the neo color looks kind of cheesy in that pic but on my forgestars it actually looks pretty good IMO. I dont think I want to buy another full set of lug nuts but it will sure bug me that the one on the front left wheel will be different than the rest. I honestly do not know why tuner lugs like these and project kics have to be so expensive.

BTW djpathfinder thanks for helping me out with the wheels offsets before for the forgestars, I didn't get the spacers yet, but you got the specs perfect for my preference. Thanks again, I just posted up a few pics of it.

op- make sure you post up the name of the shop who f-ked up your wheels, lugs, and your studs so that people in your area do not go there.

honestly speaking, if my lugs were stripped (and knowing the shop worked on all 4 wheels) i would replace all the studs and lugs as well, but that's just me. :)

My pleasure. Glad it worked out for you. I'll have to find your other posts and look at those wheels.
