If u keep ur promises, i wont escalate to paypal claim, but the dispute remains open until 15 June 2011.. If i dont receive my stuff by then, im sorry to say but i have to force to escalate to paypal claim as paypal will automatically closes the dispute on that day... Its not my fault... Its ur multiple fake promises since Dec 2010 that made me do this....

First I want to state that I am not taking sides and I want to shed light to the uninformed on how the manufacturing process works in Japan and why ordering wheels from Japan can take a long time 6+ Months...

In Japan, you have several companies like Work, Volk and many others. They Mass produce certain fitments to follow the demand of the marketplace. If you submit a custom offset or custom color or anything outside of their normal run expect long delays... and here is why:

The wheel manufacturers in order to keep costs down run their manufacturing plants to put out a certain offset and size wheel at a time. In other words this month they may only be manufacturing 18 x 9 +45 offsets in models x y and z... this keeps them from having to incur costs from tooling changes or from down time. This same idea applies to colors too... so you may wait 3 months for your wheels to be made in your offset and then have to wait another month or two before they get around to your color... I along with many before you have had to deal with these issues. Again this all depends if you luck out or not when you order. I have seen people order and get their wheels in no time at all... its like russian roulette on time. So say you wheels are made and now painted and ready to go out the door... well there is another delay you see another cost saving technique they use is packing containers full and doing a bulk shipment of containers so you may wait a couple of days or weeks for that to go through and the ship get released to open waters. Once in the US the wheels have to go through customs by container and ship. If their is no problems with the ship and its containers your stuff may get released for pickup or shipment. If their is a problem with the ship or some of the contents on said ship expect for another delay. But dont let all of this scare you...

Typically I have found that a set of wheels pre made from Japan take about 3-5 months and anything custom usually take 6-12 months. I have ordered wheels from japan for alot of my vehicles. Average time for my wheels from order to delivery 7-8 months... I see alot of guys on here who want their wheels ASAP and granted I wanted mine that way too. So the best advice when ordering wheels from japan is to expect a 7-8 month turnaround on your purchase...

A side note: since Fukashima and the earthquakes(Over 700 since march)/tsunami I would expect longer delays for wheels from Japan!!! Also, Rick is taking a lot of this in house on the manufacturing side to counter a lot of the issues he has had with the whole japan mess. This explains why he is moving into a larger facility and why it is hard to sometimes get a hold of him. no excuses here just a little insight on what some may not know is going on behind the scenes. If you have questions on anything I have posted feel free to ask or PM me.

I know there's already a list of people waiting, what would be really interesting is to get more samples to do a data analysis on. For example, did people who receive their rim around the same time order similar type wheel configurations? Are the outliers ordering crazy setups?

Consider that Volks, etc. are 3 month to 4 month waits if you order. Keep in mind, though, that you're ordering a wheel of which they make a big set of - I don't think you custom offset a Volk rim very often, if you do you paid up the arse to do it. The most you can do is custom coloring, and that's easy, it's the forging that's hard. I think ordering a 'Works wheel' also...heh, works the same way. Prescribed widths and offsets, and have at it.

But to manufacture a one-off custom wheel offset the way Venaci offers, the cost is really, really high. I wouldn't be surprised if the manufacturer waited a while to see if anybody else made a similar request so they can reduce manufacturing costs a bit. Of course, information like this should be known up front, so the buyer knows exactly what they're getting into. It really isn't as simple as you think to set up the CNC machines correctly.

Also, shipping from Japan is insane, and by ocean freight is the most cost effective thing to do. I was dying for months waiting for my amuse stuff to arrive piecemeal. Furthermore, and I hate to bring up bad memories, but keep in mind Japan did just get walloped by an earthquake, NOTHING is shipping out of Japan in an expedited fashion...hell, Subaru won't even let me know where my car is.

Not to defend the constant ETA updates and what not, and one year plus is getting excessive, but I'm saying that you still have to consider the engineering costs and time required to build a true 'custom' wheel. It's not as easy as flipping a switch in the machine.

Anyway, hopefully everybody arrives at a...er...peaceful solution that works for all parties involved.
Someone agrees with me!

We understand the position you are in, and you are on the list that was put together to document where everybody is on their wheel orders. I fully understand your frustration, but airing out your grievances and threatening a PayPal claim on a public forum does not help the situation.

You ordered Work wheels from Vivid Racing, what are you doing in a Venaci / VIP thread?

Volks agent in Dubai take maximum 3-4 months for any custom or normal order, so I am not sure anything above 4 months is reasonable, like you said 7 months and upto 12 months. It might be the importers in US who combine in containers and then ship it not the manufacturer, so delay is more of a choice of importer then manufacturer to save cost.

Shipping wheels from US to Dubai is 300-600$ by air, and is same from Japan to Dubai, if delay is the only issue why cant people get it air shipped? provided wheels are there

I see its not just the delay here which is disappointing people but more of false promises, I still hope it works out for all of them and the vendor.

I have phoned Work Wheels USA trying to find out info on my order. He could not give me an ETA/info, however, when asked whats a normal wait time for Meisters in particular he gave an example of an order placed in Feb 2011 and them being completed and shipped by April 2011 - 2 month wait. He mentioned it isnt normal for them to take more than 4mo to complete an order (said it was "very rare") and that the disasters in Japan had no effect on their manufacturing.

I do not agree and yes, it does help b/c action speaks louder than words and they're tired of all the false ETA's that's been given to them for months now. So make something happen b/c talk is cheap.

Also, I did not know there were so many others involved with this thread and the list keeps growing... so this thread delivers

I usually order straight through Volk or Work for my wheels and even though the rep said two months turnaround he is probably quoting you the time it takes for what they have in stock in japan. He is a sales guy repping the company. I have talked to them many times always quoted 2-3months and then bam 7 months later my wheels finally show up... just my experience though.

Also, if you havent kept up with the news in japan or other alternative news sources around the world. The nuclear reactors 1,2 & 3 of 6 total have gone into total meltdown if I recall correctly... This is by far the worse Nuclear accident even greater than that of Chernobyl. I went to Ukraine last year for vacation and the locals try to stay away from that area even 50+ miles away to avoid the side affects of the radiation. My friends there told me that even going there for a day is extremely risky.

but enough of the offtopic...

docaam you may be right it may be the importers that bulk the containers but then again alot of people are asking for $4000+ wheels with a $2500 budget... The importers may have to cut costs where they can to stay profitable. (I am not saying this is what happened) Air freight to Atlanta, GA from Japan was like $1200+ when I was last quoted...

If I had to guess Rick was asked an ETA so he called the factory/transport and was given an ETA then said ETA did not come through and customer gets angry and calls again.... Rick follows the same method and so the cycle repeats itself until Rick gets the wheels stateside... Outside of the delays I havent heard of Rick not coming through on an order and I have heard him offer refunds to people who werent patient enough to wait for their wheels and the funny thing is most of the time they probably decline the refund and wait like everyone else and get their wheels in the end.

Hey Mike, I appreciate your input. I understand the process can take a while. A lot of guys are upset about the timeline, yes, but most of us are upset about the false ETA's time after time. If Rick had told me when ordering my wheels that the custom process would take 6-8 months then I would not be sitting here making this thread. But that's not what he does. He assured me it would take three months, so once we hit the deadline that is given to us and we have no product were gonna start asking questions. After the first missed deadline he will tell us that they should be here the following week and so on and so forth after that. Were upset cause we try to call,pm,email, do anything to get an answer and we cant contact anyone. Yes their moving shops, but this is how it's been for the 6 months I've been trying to do business with them. Some people have been chasing ghost for a year. The customer service at VIP is terrible and theres no excuse for it. Thats what has all of us frustrated. If they would just be in contact with their customers they wouldn't have all these issues. I don't think the bulk of us mind waiting for a product we really want but when were lied to time after time then it becomes a problem.

The issue is not necessarily the wait time its the poor customer service is what im getting....Bullit it might take long to make wheels but according to these guys they said they would have no problem waiting 10 months aslong as they get a heads up. and they havent lol this guy has been waiting a week already for shipping confirmation...dude press the magic button...your not going to get any info. and if you do, it might be fake lol

I think quotes depends on the discount rate shipper is getting, I sold my sunline kit to one guy in california, and UPS quoted me 1900$ to ship to california then got it done through one freight company for 700$ that also through UPS same three days service.

Coming to topic, personally I dont expect vendor to check with manufacturer and inform customer and when checks again then keep on doing it without taking any action for the delay, there shouldn't be any cycle running as you said it means customer is not important for ordering and manufacturing facility, it can happen once/twice for few customers but not for everyone again and again.

All this thread has delivered is an angry mob.

I would volunteer my personal time to stop by Rick's and inquire on any buyer's behalf, but as (edit: A) vendor here got crucified for doing so, I will refrain from posting further comments in here. Good luck in getting your wheels, gents.

Phelan,
I would really appreciate anybody's help with this. I think Jamaica helped me too once before getting Rick to reply to my PM's (thanks if you did). All I want to know is the same thing everyone else does. Where are my wheels (really) and when will I get them. That's all. No one wants another excuse, just factual information. If I can't get that from Rick, I'll gladly accept some help from you if you can.

21st April 2011:
I already got a call from Work that they are clearing u.s custom as we speak. So it will be in my hand about monday-weds

28th April 2011 (The Promised Wednesday):
we are getting your wheels tomorrow

29th April 2011:
Rick Confirmed wheels are in his warehouse.

ONE WHOLE MONTH OF WAIT BUT UNTIL NOW RICK HAS NOT SHIPPED ALL MY STUFFS... He promised he'll shipped it on:

9th May 2011 (Delayed to 13th May 2011)
13th May 2011 (Rick went missing with no info or anything until a member from my350 informed that he met Rick & told that my stuff will be shipped by the 24th May 2011)
24th May 2011 <----- NOTHING, Nada, Zero, Fake Promises AGAIN for the zillionth time

25th May only then he replied saying it'll be shipped on 27th May 2011

27th May 2011 <------ Same situation... No results

28th May 2011 <------ Only then Rick replied telling about the problem with the shipment and promised will be delivered today.... So far got nothing from Rick.....

You ask me to be patient... but for how long??? ive been waiting patiently for 10 months now & ive been cool for the past few months with him.. & Since the Wheels are with him as he claimed from the 29th APRIL 2011, now the delay is not due to the development of the so called "Custom Wheels" but to what? u answer me please... & let me know why is Rick making these kinds of fake promises? Is it that some vendors do that so customers wont run away sooner?? Thanks...
