Well, now this is going to get ugly.

I couldn't be more pissed. I've seen the teaser pics and apparently the "new" Venaci Spirit wheels are different than what they used to be. The dish of the hub, profile of the spokes, the rim bolts and even the rounded rim lip is different from what I ordered way back 7-1/2 months ago. I know these may appear to be subtle differences to many people, but I don't like it. This is not what I ordered and I don't want them. All this adds to the highly questionable parts supplier and absolutely no assured quality specifications. Now I need to pursue a full refund from Rick. I will accept no other options. This should be fun. Mark at Ravspec will be getting a call from me soon to get some real wheels.

EDIT: I can't get the comparison pics to show up, but they're in my albums.

Gozfast,

I will say after owning the work gnosis/venaci wheels... that new lip is an upgrade from the old ones in the teaser pics... the old ones were hard as hell to repair and clean! So the new design is smooth rather than angular? that is the only differences I see and I have owned the work gnosis/venaci wheels already. I also believe the work gnosis/venaci wheels were 2 piece and these new ones are 3 piece... 3 piece is going to give you better customization and in some cases alot lighter... I hope you get it all sorted out. has rick already shipped you your wheels?

Yep.. see my post a couple pages back.. The new Venaci lineup are basically replicas now. No longer made by Work. Sorry man. Hope you get your money back.

I haven't heard from Rick for weeks. The last deadline he gave me was the middle of last month.

I know the changes to the new design are subtle, but they remind me of some cheap Enkei's now and it's not what I ordered. That and no QA specs and I don't want them.

Quick question after reading all these post. Why is everyone spending major money and way to long wait times on work custom 3 piece wheels and then still running spacers... That seems crazy if they are custom wheels they should be built around the caliper.

True.. but like the Vsxx wheel, they have a weird disk and spoke clearance, so a spacer is required because an offset that fits the bigger brakes isn't made I'm guessing.

Hence why i bring it up. Work uses the easy way out. They have pre determined centers. Instead of cutting each center per order. Anytime you order a custom wheel no spacers should ever be needed.

So they aren't really "custom" wheels. Then why the heck does it take them 8 months to make a wheel that is pretty much mass produced?

Not really sure! :: shrugs shoulders ::

WORK VSXX is a 10+ years old wheel. It's a wheel that was designed many years ago catering to cars that had much smaller caliper. In recent years, much bigger caliper are being supply as OEM caliper and wheels manufacturer are making changes or adding new wheels for the newer cars. For Example, WORK Gnosis, Schwert, Varianza, VS Concept are all new design from WORK Japan that has much better caliper clearance. Thus avoid the use of any spacers.

WORK VSXX is a custom 3 piece modular wheels. The wheel are piece together by picking the center face, then the back barrel and the front barrel. All three together determine brake clearance and offset and the most important LIP SIZE. By changing out either front or back barrel will allow the offset to be adjusted. This is how 3 piece modular wheels work.

Color of the face can be custom to any color range available by WORK Japan line up. "That's YOUR CUSTOM" part.
Color of the barrel can be custom to bronze, black, glossy or flat. "That's YOUR CUSTOM" part.
Bolt pattern can be custom to fit most vehicle, from 5 holes 98mm to 130mm. "That's YOUR CUSTOM" part.
Pierce Bolts can be pick between silver, chrome and black. "That's YOUR CUSTOM" part.
Center Disk can be pick between T,R,A,O,W giving you different offset, different lip size. "That's YOUR CUSTOM" part
.

Yes, WORK VSXX are custom. From offset, to color to barrel color, all are customizeable.

The most important part are all the WORK wheels are tested and pass JWL standard. Which is equivalent to the DOT in Japan. Wheels are tested for strength and defects prior to release to the public. ALOT OF Custom CUT wheels offered in USA DO NOT HAVE TO PASS ANY STRENGTH TESTING ! Which means, they can cut the wheels, and make it look good then put it in the market.

Normally, WORK wheels takes 2 to 3 months to deliver. If you buy through a good dealer for WORK Wheels, they will be able to let you know if Japan have the materials in stock. If they do, 1 to 2 months delivery are possible. If Japan doesn't have the material in stock, 2 to 3 months will be the standard delivery time. WORK VSXX and WORK Meister is a bit different because they are old style/generation wheels and WORK Japan usually don't keep alot of stock on the shelves. Meaning a longer delivery time. 3 to 4 months is possible in certain cases where customer request color such as chrome, burning black, etc. If WORK Japan has difficulty producing the wheels and will required 6+ months, (it did happen to us once), we were informed way before that and will ask if customers are willing to wait.

Just some 411 into ordering WORK wheels.

Mark.

It's called "custom" because it takes so long to get the wheels that it makes you wonder if they are sitting at customs.
