Nice,
just out of curiosity how does it ride, I heard 255/305 is too big of a stagger, they recommended I got 265/285 at a local tire shop. How does it drive with that tire set up?

it is not on the car yet, I am not going for "ride quality" though, If that was the style I wanted I would have bought a caddy. As far as it being 2 much of a stagger, I dont think that should make a huge difference, stock is 245/275 I am only two sizes wider. I will be sure to post a thread when everything is on my car when the volk's get here and let you know though!

LOL a caddy huh? when i speak of "ride quality" I'm talking about affecting performance, like handling, increase fishtailing on curves, MPG's etc.. not road noise or anything associated with "comfort" which one would usually think of when talking about a caddy... Anyway look forward to reading your thread :-)

255/305 is a tremendous amount of stagger. It will certainly dial in a lot more understeer into the car. The car will plow in the corners.

But if you're just after the look and don't drive it in a "performance" oriented fashion, you should be fine.

ahhh I understand, I doubt this large of a stagger is really the ideal set up for track usage or performance driving in general, the goals for this car for me are strictly visual with the option to go autocross on the weekend every once in a while.

My problem is that the stock tires do not provide enough grip at the drag strip. would upgrading my tires and going with a 305 give me enough traction to launch and not spin the whole time. I only drive the car on the weekend and only if the weather is nice so I don't care about traction during wet or ice. With the SC anything over 5k RPM's the car is getting lose in the first 3 gears

It would help, but a low profile street tire really isn't ideal for the drag strip. If you want grip at the strip I would suggest looking for the smallest wheel diameter you can fit over the rear brakes and a set of drag radials or ET Street slicks.

Unfortunately in the quest for ultimate straight line traction you give up a lot in terms of lateral grip, so its best to have a separate drag and street setup.

So for Sport Pack wheels 255/35 front n 275/35 rear would be the best setup?

I ordered a set of SS' and they should be here tomorrow. 255/295. I wanted 265 in the front, but they do not make them, and I wanted 295 in the rear since I wanted them to fill the wheels a bit more. If in the end it's too much, I'll go back to 285.

If that tire size setup isn't ideal, you can probably offset it by adjusting your coilovers which is good.

looking at getting the PSS for my Volks, I was thinking of going 265/35/19 front. 285/35/19 rear... but if they dont make the the 265 I guess I can stick to 255... but my question is should I stay at 285 or go 295 for the rear. Did you end up getting the 255/295 set up?how does it drive? not too big of a stagger to cause understeer?
