Default Wheel Locks (Key)

Another thread got me to looking into whether my '09 370Z came with wheel locks and, if so, where can I find the wheel lock key. The window sticker makes no mention of wheel locks, either as an option or a standard feature and I see nothing in the trunk that would appear to be a wheel lock key. If I do have wheel locks, what would they look like (is the one lug nut on each wheel with a pattern on its head be it?) and where should I find the key? If I don't have wheel locks, I guess I have to buy them from Nissan Parts to enable them to have a registered number for my key if I lose it, etc.

If it came with wheel locks? The key is attached to the lug wrench in the back next to the jack? their should also be a card with the key # for future references if the key is lost. That how my z came.

Look at your lug nuts, if you have the locks there will be a pattern cut into the lug nut. The "key" should be somewhere with the lug wrench.

I bought mine from the Nissan dealer parts dept as they didn't come with my car. The Nissan OEM locks are made by McGard.

I've attached a pic of a lock installed on a wheel and of the wheel key.

Okay. There is one lug nut that has a pattern on its head on each of my four wheels. There is also an open plastic bag in the trunk containing 4 lug nuts without patterns on their heads. I assume that the one patterned lug nut on each wheel is the lock and the 4 plain nuts in the plastic bag in my trunk are the ones that were replaced by the ones that are locks and have been installed. I also found the McGard registration papers, envelope, etc. but so far no key attached to the lug wrench. Am I correct in assuming the dealer gave me a set of wheel locks that are now installed?
I'd better find it or I'll be in trouble if I ever have to remove one of the wheels.

Locks don't come with the car from the factory. They are only a dealer add-on. You had better get the key, 'cause you're right.....if you need to get a wheel off.....you're screwed without it!

If you've checked the trunk and glovebox or center console and nothing? go to the dealer and ask them you need the key. They may order a key or change them out. good luck

The Forum is a great resource, especially for those of us who simply enjoy owning and driving our beautiful cars and don't know a whole lot about the mechanics of it all. But I continue to learn!

yah, those locks are kinda tricky to find sometimes. my dealer forgot to put the stock lugs with the packaging back in the car and just put the bare key in the trunk. so im short 5 stock lugs. and too lazy to go back to the dealer to get them back.

The lug nuts for the 350Z and 370Z are different too!

So I you are thinking of getting a set make sure they are the right ones.
