Conti DSW HELP!!!
So i was on tire rack and i had trouble finding the correct size tire of continental extreme contact for my nismo rims.
I could not find 245/40/19 which is recommended for the front nismo rims but I did find 245/35/19 instead of the 40 aspect ratio. I did also find the rear tire at 285/35/19 which i will be getting. My question is regarding the front tire aspect ratio. Should I get 245/35/19? OR 245/45/19 for the front? Please keep in mind I will be putting in swift spec-R springs that will drop my car about an inch. Is it ok if ran 245/35/19 and 285/35/19 with those springs? or do you think more meat in the front would be much better get the 45 aspect ratio? Im really bummed out that they dont have 245/40/19 for the front tires. Its either i go up 5 or down 5 for the height. Has anyone ran 35 aspect ratio for front and back? Thanks a lot guys |
You won't have any problems stepping down to a 35mm side wall, much better than going up to a 45 sidewall. Besides, the 35 is a better aspect ratio for the speedometer accuracy from what I have read although I could be wrong.

You should try to keep with the OEM tire ratio as close as possible and also look at the difference between the "Section Width" of the front rear combo you are trying to accomplish. Straying from the OEM Section Width of 1.18 will create more understeer if the difference in section width increases say like to 1.57. I have spent the last two weeks hi-jacking other tire threads asking questions and getting great responses from tire gurus.
I found this Tire Calculator very helpful once I had an understanding of what to look for: Tire Dimensions Made Simple - Discount Tire IMO the closest to OEM ratios would be 265/35/19 Fr & 285/35/19 Rr on the Sport Rims. 255/35/19 & 285/35/19 would be my second choice. 265/35/19 & 305/30/19 is ideal but I have heard the tire is too big for the sport rim. Some may disagree though. 245/40/19 & 285/35/19 would be my third option. Run the numbers on the tire calculator and you will see. You want to punch in three sets of numbers. First the OEM Fr & Rr Then punch in the OEM front and say the tire you want to go up to. Third punch in the Fr & Rr of the tires you want to see the staggered "Section Width" difference. Remember OEM staggered difference is 1.18 and anything higher will create more understeer which is not good. You want a combo that will stay close to OEM 1.18 or a tad lower like 0.78. Hope this helps and reps to you for opening a new thread. And WELCOME to the SWIFT Club :tiphat: |

AZN370z, that is what i saw, but for some reason they did not have it on the chart. Very confusing because they show the 40 height, but its not listed on the chart at all. |

I have these in 245/40/19 and 285/35/19 on the same rim widths as Nismo rims. They should be available through TireRack unless they've been discontinued for some reason...

good job z force +1

i usually just use my excel sheet where i put a quick formula "= cell1*cell2*.001"
walla you get the height of the tire in cm. :p |
btw, for a 245/40 tire, Cell1 would be your width (245) and Cell2 would be your profile (40). :)

why dont you go with extreme contact DW instead of DWS? they have the sizes you need.
|
yah, im finding that the DW's are actually pretty damn nice for street. :p and the sidewall appearance is kinda growing on me now. (it's round and im not a real big fan of round sidewalls).
