H&R Spacer... Lip shaved/broke off?!

I don't think so, I always tighten to 80 ft-lbs, which is what the manual states.

It's pretty common with hubcentric spacers. It is just one of those things that happens.

Just my luck, my package is stuck in Memphis because of those crazy storms they are having. Had to get them redirected to my work address since I need to be there to sign for them, and I can't work from home again tomorrow. Stupid weather!

ouch haha. I think those storms are just missing this end of TN which is lucky for me. If it hail's i'd prolly break down and cry.

Yeah, I had no clue what was going on until I saw the message on FedEx's website. Hopefully the storms will clear up soon and I'll get my spacers tomorrow. Not to sound selfish or anything.

of course they werent installed wrong, thats not really possible with wheel spacers lol... well for the most part, im sure someone could find a way to screw it up.

the hubcentric lip helps center the wheels for installation and absorb some of the load that would typically be shared with the lug nuts... but if you are strictly hubcentric lugs, most all of that load is on the ring.

hey smartarse, since im a nice guy i will coach you how things are done in the manufacturing world.

if this was a non-injury or non-life threatening piece of a car like say an emblem, i wouldn't mind as much, but a spacer/stud failure can cause serious accidents especially if one is getting false sense of security while driving.

since you don't have basic knowledge of what real manufacturers go through, any top tier manufacturer will have lab equipment in-house to do this analysis... nowhere near involved as what a forensics scientist would go through. LOL

they will first look at the angles of the break under a microscope to determine if it was a stress fracture or material fatigue or material contamination. they can also find where the load was on the lip which caused the failure to see if within design. if the material appears pure, they will run spectro-analysis to check the material alloy itself, and determine root cause.

there's basically 3 suspects. design, material contamination, wrong material combination used.

fix the problem, prevent it from reoccurring, done. if our wheel design is outside the design tolerance due to material, then that needs to be highlighted on the box/instruction manual.

If I recall correctly, Captain Obvious does independent contracting on the side. He would be the perfect guy for this job. Could probably prevent this CSI episode with a healthy dose of his common sense.

*sigh* Someone screwed up with forwarding the package to my work address, so the package didn't go out today either. I should get it tomorrow, as long as nothing else goes wrong. I just love paying like $30 extra to get 2 Day shipping and in the end, I won't get it any faster than if I had them shipped ground for free.
