Tire choice is all about personal preference. I was looking for the best combination of dry and wet performance, and I chose the S-04s because of the wide lateral grooves that signaled potentially serious wet performance capabilities. I have not been disappointed. While I believe the Michelin's new competitor would have been better in the dry, the S-04's are far above my skill level in the dry, and are simply outstanding in the wet. Furthermore, I opted for the 285mm on the rear in place of the 275, which added over an inch of surface contact area as I measured when I received the S-04s. I might have opted for the Michelins if they were available in the same size, but have no regrets on my choice.

Mike- I'm not stating u and others made a bad decision at all on the S04's! :tup: Just saying they are more money than 1200 clossie mentioned. I'm getting S04's next myself. Just wanted to try the conti's this time. This is the first time I bought any conti tire. Its not bad from wat I found. :)

Getting S04's wrapped tomorrow on my G's SSR wheels. :p. I didn't realize RE050A pole position were already closed out so my store (tirerack) don't have them any more in the sizes I want (245/35/19 & 275/35/19). But its ok! :D
Will be making a road trip tomorrow so by the time I'm home the new tires will already be broken in :tup: I'm :excited: |
I just on the Pole Positions a few weeks ago. Quieter than the Potenzas, or Advans. Absolutely great in rain. In Northeast we are or have been getting rain, a lot. Better grip than the the others also. I don't start going sideways if I hit it. Not doing WOT but 4000-5000 RPMs. Running GTM Twin Turbos.

Ill run this past you guys. I'm currently running stock fronts and continental extreme contact DWs on the rear (definitely more sticky than the oem potenzas) since I prematurely wore out my rears and I now need to replace my fronts. Was originally going to get DWs but thinking I might go with the S04's for the front for their stiffer sidewalls/better steering response. Would this increase understeer? (dont think id like that) Don't mind the slightly more flexible sidewalls in back as it gives the tires more gradual slippage if i get it sideways... is my understanding correct here?

No scratches or scuffs on my SSR wheels that had RE050A wrapped and replaced with S04's. Gotta luv their work. Even the lug bores were scratch free when they removed and install the wheels. Psi was set to 35 which is factory so no issue. I will raise it a few later. Lugs were also torqued, not sure by how much bit it was tighter than 80lbs. Hope not over torqued
TireRack rocks. :D As for the s04's I put about 200 miles on them already. They feel like the RE050A polepositions yet they are considerably quieter after about 50 miles. :) there were no surprises and the tires feel and look great! |

Tried the S04's in the rain this am. Good! :tup: gotta luv Uni-T. Let my G loose a little while merging, no VSD interruption.
