Why would you do this to spacers?
Back in December, I bought a used set of spacers from a forum member and when I got them I noticed that they didn't look like the pictures on the H&R website. That didn't worry me too much as I know sometimes the picture doesn't always go with the particular part.
I checked the part number, 3065662, and found it to be the correct one for the Z and for a 15mm spacer. fast forward to last week when I installed them. I got a vibration at 65mph and also at about 78mph. It is very slight but its there. I specifically got the H&R because of the "hub-centric" ring. I should have known by looking at them that something wasn't right but I have never installed spacers before. I have since called H&R to verify that they have never made model # 3065662 with out the ring and they said no. So here is a picture of what I have. Now that I have verified what they are supposed to look like it begs the question.... Why would you machine the ring off?? Here is the stamping on the side that shows that they are in fact 3065662 So I guess I am in the market for some new 15mm spacers for the front. If anyone has just the spacers I'll buy them.

That sucks! I guess, the lesson is buyer beware. The hub centric lip is a huge reason to get H&R. Did the seller post pics of the spacer?

stop using that spacer immediately if you're on stock wheels!! your wheels are designed to use the center lip and the lugs to keep it in place. your studs can break off.
for your aftermarket wheels that are 99.99999% lug centric, you can use that spacer + stud set. to answer your question, chances are some honda kid bought it for his 56mm center bore honda and would not fit his wheels correctly (ours is 66mm) so machined it off. |

The car is sitting until I either get some new spacers or return it to stock. Just to be clear I do not feel like there was any intent on the sellers part to put one over on me. I think he was in the same boat as me but just got lucky that he didnt get any vibrations.

I wouldn't worry about the studs breaking off. It would be like running a wheel that is not hub-centric specifically for our cars. It'll still work and the studs will support the load. You just won't get precise centering without that lip, and hence the chance of a wobble.

Could it have been possible you had a loose lug from the installation? Not discrediting the probable culprit, but just making sure all possibilities were checked...

This a photo of the 15mm H&R spacer out of the box...
maybe it was a bad installation and the rings vibrated and cracked, coming off with the original owners wheels.

lug-centric wheels are different by design. the issue is the wheel shifts out of place when there is no lip to rest the weight of hub-centric wheels. that movement can cause the stud to snap. lug-centric wheels do not rely on the centering ring lip for stability. there is no shifting. unless the lugs were over torqued significantly, the lugs do not break. |
