Rear wheel peeling........

I have the sport package wheels and one of my rear wheels is peeling some sort of clear cloat.

Will my bumper to bumper warranty cover this?

Unless you hit something it should be covered... Bring it to dealer ASAP.

wash it with a soft brush (soap/water) and see if it's just release oil from the mold or not.

I'd leave it alone and go straight to the dealer. Play dumb, you have no idea what's going on, you've never been to an automatic car wash, never used any abrasive wheel cleaners. Just way "i wash the car myself with soap and water and look at this..."

If the dealer won't cover it, just find a wheel refinishing place that can powdercoat them again for ~$90-130/wheel. Not a huge deal for one rim.

Mine has been releasing oil since last may ;)

I've seen this happen it the wheel gets a knick in it or from when installing new tires. The machine doesn't damage the wheel but the force on the insulation of the tire machine would peel the clear on the outer edges. Did this on my new wheels also. Wasn't a big deal for me.

Do you have any pictures of the peeling? I'm just curious to see what it looks like. As the others stated, take it to the dealer and don't mention using any wheel cleaners.

SPOHN 03-14-2011 08:43 PM

I personally don't have pics for myself. But I can't even tell where it was slightly shaved off now. That's on my after market wheels.

fighterinsnat 03-15-2011 09:06 AM

I'm going to take it in today. I'll snap some pictures.

I'm kind of worried because my Nissan dealership is kinda unprofessional. They don't seem like they enjoy what their doing.

In for pics.

fighterinsnat 03-15-2011 10:34 AM

Bump added pics

kenchan 03-15-2011 02:29 PM

looks like your wheel was repaired at one time... (?)
