All the suggestions so far are very good. I would personally look at the Re-11 right now.
To better narrow down options, will you be using them in the rain at all? |

I had nt05s and while they are not a track tire.. they could serve as a dual purpose tire... cornering was very impressive with them... they left me spoiled but initial dry traction was not the best...
re-11 is a better tire but about 50-80 more a tire but also offered in many more sizes.. advans are also run by mike the powder coater and he seems to love them to and he knows his stuff so I would put them above nt05's as well but the nittos will be easiest on your pocket

All mention seemed to be great. I have the RE11's. There great. Haven't tracked yet. But for spirited driving they just straight grip threw the corners. Very predicable tire. Great in rain also.

2010 EVO Tyre Test
EVO chose an MX5 as their test mule which has relatively small rear tyres (205/45 r17), the choice of high performance tyres was somewhat limited and the final mix a little bizarre Tyres on test: - Bridgestone Potenza RE050A - Continental Contisportcontact 3 - Hankook Ventus V12 EVO - Kumho Ecsta LE Sport KU39 - Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 - Uniroyal Rainsport 2 - Vredstein Ultrac Cento - Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 - Zeetex HP103 Laptimes (dry) 1. i think i am going to go with the ad08 or re11, if i track the car it will only be dry weather, only time it will see rain is if i am out and about one weekend and it starts raining lol. also i might take it to a local drag strip a few times will either tire be fine for drag? is one sticker than the other between ad08 / re11?
here is a breakdwon: track dry- most track wet- never(unless it rains while im out on track) drag strip dry-occasionally drag strip wet-.....why would anyone drag in the rain around town dry-occasionally around town wet-occasionally(but really only if i am out and it starts to rain) Last edited by andrewkd16; 03-09-2011 at 11:39 AM. |

I am sure the bridgestones are good....but.....the AD08 tires are the closest tire to an R rated tire without actually being drag radials. Someone even mentions in this thread that the re11's dry grip is ok but not great. I bought the AD08 FOR GRIP and it has not let me down....even with my extra HP.
