Stock 275mm Bridgestones + 25mm spacers sticking out past fender
 

I've been looking through a lot of pictures of members' Z's with fatty 305mm or 315mm, or spacers. From what I've seen so far, 315 looks very flush, but not sticking out. I simply have the stock Rays 275mm + 25mm spacers making it just 300mm, yet it's sticking out at least a good 1-1.5inches from the fender. What's going on? Or were the pictures I've seen a little off.

Secondly, do our cars come with stock with negative camber? I've noticed my rear tires have that once the spacers were in. Everything is bolted on tight.

i looked at your Z, coldshot, and it looks very flush and fine. i'm not understanding why mine are sticking out like that. i even torque'd the lug nuts a bit more just in case. i even measured the spacers to make sure they are really 25mm

did you lower your car?

Unless you lower your car and add some camber its not going to look right. At stock height 15mm is max for the rears imo. Plus your splash guards look out of place from the back and tires look too skinny.

Mine isn't lowered. I don't know if I will anytime soon cause the roads are so bad. I finally am not scrapping out the driveway after I put back on the stock Rays. I'm not sure how lowering a car will make the tires more flush inwards. I figure the car body just simply lowers and that's it. Could you explain this for me please?

I agree, after measuring with a ruler, 15mm for the rear wheels would've been perfect, but I already have the 25mm on so I'm just going to leave them on. I might decide to lower it later on.

And yes, the stock camber seems to push the tires visibly past the splash guards. I didn't know the z came with negative camber so I thought I didn't tighten the wheels enough at first.

Because of the angle in which the suspension travels, the wheel will travel inwards and not just straight up and down. This is why when you lower the car the wheel tucks in.

That's a good diagram.

Lowering introduces negative camber so this tucks the top of the wheel inward. But you don't want too much neg camber as it puts unnecessary load on the inner side wall of the tires. I too don't plan on lowering it and tried seversal spacer sizes. 15mm is best for the rear imho. :) I have other wheels with +24 but 10.5" width so that should work nicely without spacers at stock height. Basically near the nismo wheel size.

I believe you also have to consider that 315's arent 40mm more on the inside... the different is going to be split across inside of hub and outside of hub.

Also, can you run 315's on the stock rears? I imagine they all have aftermarket wheels with appropriate offset to make them flush... right?

Theoretically sort of. Alot of tires these days are asymetrical so doesn't necessarily mean a precise split but its a good starting point. Check the tire manufacturer spec for correct wheel width range.

Most people who run spacers on this forum are also lowered, from what I've seen.

If you want, just dial in the camber a bit more until the ride sits how you want it. Just a degree will make a huge difference.
