No. Opposite. It takes the current offset and subtracts the number of the spacer from it. Technically you are moving your rims to a more negative offset direction versus positive.
Example. Your +18 subtract your +10 spacer = +8 offset |

hmmm...I think 15 mm spacers (adding 5 mm) would be perfect...20 mm, might be a bit much unless you were thinking of adding negative camber. Post pics to show us.
