Yes, I did. They are Nissan-brand locks, and they did indeed think the 350Z's could be used on the 370's. They were definitely surprised when I said it didnt fit, but I think they will be removing them now, thankfully. I hope so, at least...
BTW, I think its worthy mentioning that, looking at the cheap metal that made these lugs up, I'd almost guarantee that in cold weather, they'd very likely snap when trying to take them off if it was an emergency!

I'm pretty sure I have the same ones pictured multiple times earlier too. They were on the car when I received it, presumably installed by the dealer. Seems to be some kind of standard-issue Nissan locking lug thing. I haven't had any issues yet, but I'd rather not have any in the future.
I hadn't thought about the fact that these don't have washers like the other lugs. Is this really an issue? Should I get them off the car? |

Yes. If you are using a locking lug that does not match the non-locking lug nuts, and one without a washer when the others have one, then the washerless locking lug is not seating on the rim properly; this affects torque values on the studs and hub, plus can damage your rim. If your dealer installed them, have your dealer replace them with the proper locking lugs.

At least the remainder of the lug can be removed without damaging the wheel. It could be a lot worse...also could have been prevented with a little common sense. One of these things is not like the other....?

Yeah. CRAP! I should get a refund for the price of those stupid lugs. The absolute WORST thing about this whole debacle is that the proper lugs are available.

We should sticky something about this and change the title so that new owners see it, this is going to be an issue for a *lot* of people I bet.
I just got back from visiting the service manager at my dealer. I gave him the rundown about the broken wheel stud report here, and the differing locking nut part numbers available from Nissan. Sure enough, they've been putting the wrong lock nuts on all of their 370's, not just mine. He had three more on the showroom floor already equipped with the wrong ones. He's ordering a bunch of replacements for all his stock and for my car (and hopefully for anyone else that has purchased in the meantime, I didn't ask or think to until I got home). He gave me some plain wheel nuts (of the correct type) to put on my car for now and offered to install them himself, but I said I'd do it when I got home. He says Nissan never notified them about the availability (much less *requirement* apparently) of different lock nuts for the 370Z's wheels. They had never heard of the part before I walked in and told them to look it up. They've been using the same "standard" locknuts they use on every car. I think it's fair to assume a lot of dealers are going to be in the same clueless boat about this. |

I warned everyone in that thread not to use Nissan's standard wheel locks, and supplied the McGard part number for the shank-style locks that do work (this was before Nissan caught up and started selling them under their own name). I've had them on my Z since January without issue.

add me to the list of those 370Z's with the wrong wheel locks installed by the dealer. Read this thread, checked mine and unfortunately they are the tapered locks, the wrong ones. Fortunately, no harm no foul, I re-installed the stock lugs that they conveniently left me in the glove box. The locking lugs the dealer installed couldn't have been torqued to anything greater than 20#'s, they were just above finger tight. No idea what the dealership is/was thinking, are these guys clueless?
