For non-extreme/track drivers, DWS has high rating on all categories which are well suited for all road conditions. |
255/40/19 f & 285/35/19 r?
Does any tires offer these size? I know that 285/35/19 r & 265/35/19 f do offer this size. My only concern the quality ride of the front tire height is reduce from 40 to 35. So i'm trying to make the width increase by 10. |
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo Tire Experience

I think when you do, you will opt for a different tire than you have listed here. The Michelin was the best at one time, but no more. The Evo is a good tire as is the Yoky (love Yoky's, have run them since the A008R semi-slick days) but for a much better summer tire, look here: Continental ExtremeContact DW The Continental ExtremeContact DW will be my next tire when my Yokohomas finally give in. |
I decided to go with a set of ExtremeContact DW in the stock size. I got a great deal on them through a local dealership so I'm going to give them a try. I'll probably have them put on near the end of the month/beginning of March. I'll give some feedback after I've had them on for a month or two.
|
Update: I have about 1,000 miles on the ExtremeContact DW's now and my initial input is its a great tire for every day driving. As everyone on here is saying, the sidewall is definitely softer than that of the stock Bridgestones, and I definitely noticed a softer feel in the steering wheel. That being said, they do have great grip in turns and even though they feel a little softer, they still feel confident and consistent in the corners. Plus the temps here in PA are still pretty chilly (40's and 50's) so I haven't had a chance to drive them in warm conditions yet.
I don't track my car, so I'm not going to pretend that I have any kind of valuable input on how these would be for a track tire. But if you're like me and your Z is your every day driver and you just like hitting some turns with speed every now and then, I think its a great tire. The ride is much better than the stock Bridgestones and the road noise is significantly reduced. Also, since installing I drove through 2 heavy rainstorms, and they were excellent in the rain. They plowed through standing water and never felt like they were getting ready to hydroplane. So if you're looking for the most extreme dry summer handling tire and don't care about anything else, this probably isn't your tire. I'm guessing the PS2's or RE11's would be the way to go based on what others are saying. But for daily driving I would recommend it, especially for the price. I'll give another update after a few 1000 miles of wear as to how they're holding up. |

Road Noise
Hello,
This is my first sports car. I really enjoy driving the car but noticed the harsh road noise when driving on different surfaces in my area. I initially bought some sound deadening material and this help reduce some of the noise. I'm now thinking about a tire change to reduce some more of the cabin noise. I need some help with maybe changing my tires. Right now they have Yokohama Sport tires. I have read that Continental DW tires are good or Hankook v12s. Do any of you have any advise to change the tires to a more quiet ride. I know this is a z and not a G37. I may have made a mistake for the type of ride I wanted to get but it's to late to go back now. |
The V12 is a quieter tire than the RE050
|
Take a good look at Continental Extreme Contact DW. I would have got them if they had my sizes in the country....Settled for Hankook.
Tire rack shows them lighter by 2lbs vs. most other and rated very good on grip and road noise. They are German tires that come OEM on many Porshe and BMW cars. |
I broke in the tires so let my car loose alittle bit.. These DW stick pretty well even around 40F...although waaaay out of summer tire range. Their sidewalls don't look that great (too round for my taste) but im liking these tires. :D
