Continental extremecontact dws

Well I just ordered a set of the extreme contact dws last night for the factory 19" factory rays..... so sad to be informed that they are on national back order for the rears until april :( now I have nitto invo's coming has anyone ran these let me know what you think I had to pick a replacement on the spot as we are taking a road trip this weekend!

tsolin01 01-31-2011 03:30 PM

National backorder? I just ordered a set of these today and was told they'd be here by wednesday... is it just for the 275/35/19? you can do the same as the nismo 285/35/19 which is what I ordered and discount tire said they were in stock.

cheshirecat 01-31-2011 03:48 PM

The invos are a decent tire. Low wear, great dry traction. I wouldn't push them in the wet.

Had a set of fronts last for over 50k miles with meat still left when I had them replaced due to camber wear.

m4a1mustang 01-31-2011 03:48 PM

So are you going to be running DWS fronts and Invo rears? If so your handling is going to be terribly out of whack.

Red__Zed 01-31-2011 03:50 PM

Invo's are relatively unremarkable tires IMO. Quiet for Nitto's, other than that, generally not noteworthy.

This is not to say they are bad, just not really notable.

Xan 01-31-2011 04:00 PM

Tirerack shows them in stock in both sizes...

I am guessing just the 275/35-19r the web sites (discount tire and tire rack) both say available within 2-3 days but discount tire called me today to tell me the back order news:(

if your just driving you should be fine with most tire options

cheshirecat 01-31-2011 10:44 PM

Yep. It's not like you're going to fly off the road because you don't have premium tires on a $30k car. Just drive normally and you'll be fine. Punching it in fourth on a rainy expressway may not be the best idea.

Haha, indeed :D

wilsonp 01-31-2011 11:12 PM

Tire rack lists them in stock - I would bet they have them.

JerWA 01-31-2011 11:35 PM

Just ordered a 285/35R19 Sunday and got shipping confirmation today from Tire Rack.

issforged 01-31-2011 11:53 PM

i have invos on my RX7 FD they came with the wheels i bought...in the dry they're good tires, not great, but good...but in the wet, well lets just say you need to be awake and alert lol

Macadam 02-02-2011 02:08 PM

Continentals have been great tires for me. I had them on my last 2 Z's, my 11 doesn't need any right now, but good luck with them.

i just ordered my continental 275 35 19's from tire rack on the 29th and they came in on the 29th and they came in on the 2nd

Bodytechz 02-08-2011 09:38 AM

Everyone happy with these tires for all season driving conditions? Was considering the Michelin PS2's but would gladly go with the DWS as long it's got a good grip and is quiet.

What's your experience with either tire brand on your 370Z?

Every test I have seen shows the Continental ExtremeContact tires to be anything but "crap".

My only question to the original poster is why, given you live in South Carolina, could you not consider the DW instead?

That is THE best tire I have been able to find based on tests performance wise all around for warm weather and it even gives you one heck of a good wear rating.

I live in TX and just won't drive the 370 if it is cold out. Not everyone has that luxury though and the DWS is a good tire if you have to go all weather.

tsolin01 02-14-2011 09:27 AM

Just had these put on last Friday and after some weekend driving, I must say they are definitely quieter than the stock Bridgestones. I haven't driven it hard enough to comment on the performance difference.

kenchan 02-27-2011 05:15 PM

How do you guys like this tire so far? I have a fresh set in my garage ready to be installed. This is the first time buying conti's for me. I like how light they are vs the Re050's. :) was pleasantly surprised when I picked them up. I took advantage of the free flip camera rebate as well. :p

I dont agree with this at all........I am running Advan Neova AD08's and think they are the best I have seen so far.

cant really compare an r compound with a regular performance tire....

the extreme contacts will prolly last about 3x as long as the ad08's.

but the ad08's will easily out perform the extreme contacts.

Advan Neova's ARE NOT R compound. As far as wear.....probably right....but....handling and grip are my main concerns and the Advans are golden there.

Blue370tt 02-28-2011 09:18 AM

From tire rack site:

The ADVAN Neova AD08 is Yokohama's Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans that have a passion for sport driving. The ADVAN Neova AD08 is designed to provide high levels of traction, responsive handling and driving control on dry and wet roads, however it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The DWS have a 6 year / 50,000 mile tread wear warranty, which is after reading their fine print is not actually applicable to ones used on our cars. Tires covered require that they be rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles and a rotation schedule be presented for warranty coverage.

I'm hoping mine last in the 40k range but that's probably wishful thinking lol

i have mine i just havnt put them on yet. the treadwear is 540 i believe so in theory they should last 5 times as long as the oem ones cause their treadwear is 140. we'll see haha

kenchan 02-28-2011 02:47 PM

now that i look at it, you guys were talking about DWS... mine are just DW's.... so completely different tire... (?)

the dws stands for dry wet snow whereas the dw is just dry wet

brado 02-28-2011 03:47 PM

its a ultra high performance all season i think

kenchan 02-28-2011 03:49 PM

oh ok... yah, mines a summer set so just Dry and Wet. thanks. :)

Problem is the tread wear rating across different brands can't really be compared directly. But even twice as long is fine with me lol

Incidentally I drove through some light rain yesterday with a few standing water areas on the highway and the car felt a lot more stable than what I remember the stock bridgestones felt like.

kenchan 02-28-2011 04:05 PM

sounds good. im pretty happy with bridgestone's Uni-T tread pattern. it works very well even on their cheezo line up Fusion. i have a set on my dd and they stick like glue even in rain... given that it's above 50F...

brado 02-28-2011 05:10 PM

im getting mine put on next week. i hope they are decent tires

This is actually one of the reasons I just bought a set of ExtremeContact DWSes. (245/45-18 and 275/40-18).

The tires are asymmetrical, but the tread pattern is bidirectional. That mean you can swap left-to-right every 5-6K.

tsolin01 04-15-2011 12:28 AM

Does swapping side to side really do anything though? if your alignment's good I don't see it being any benefit.

Also I just drove through some heavy rain and I didn't feel any instability what so ever. I have about 3k miles on these tires so maybe it's the new tread but felt much better than the stocks in heavy rain.
