Rays Duraluminum lugs
I found these on ebay and I was wondering if it is safe to replace the stock lugs with these lugs from Rays. They are not tuner lugs so they do not fit on aftermarket rims.

They should be good to go. Not getting aftermarket wheels?

The stock Rays require a cone and washer style lug nut. These look like the cone style that would be fine on a 350 but not 370. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It's hard to say from the photos. The stock Rays wheels use what is called a 'lug centered' wheel, which means the lugnuts center the wheel when they are tightened. These look flat on the back which means that they are intended for a 'hub centered' wheel, which means the wheel centers itself on the hub when installed and a flat lug nut is required to hold the wheel in place.
Unless you can get more information from the seller or a better picture......I would say to pass on these. |

They are cone shaped. I look at some but couldn't justify the price. This design is actually called conical. If my mind recalls I believe there about a 60 degree angle. My AME's called for them. I went with some MXP lugs, open ended. There made by Rays.

umm... no offense but does XXR wheels deserve Volk lightweight lugs?
i would stick with something cheaper. would suck if you walk out to your car and find that your lugs got stolen but wheels are still there. |

unfortunately, I had already bought it. Here is a comparison between the stock, rays, and gorilla tuner lugs.
I agree, that would suck but I am also glad that I didn't buy some $5,000 rims at the same time. LOL Last edited by TongMan; 01-25-2011 at 11:15 AM. |

Yeah, you only want to use the OEM lugs on the stock Rays. Your wheels will literally fall off the car.

yah, as mustang mentioned, using lugcentric lugs on hubcentric wheels = disaster waiting to happen. they are completely different by design structure and not compatible.
