Would you be mad? Tire shop damage.
1 Attachment(s)
I got a good deal on tires, but afterwords found out they really did a bang-up job. All four 19" Rays rims suffered the same exact fate - likely from a screw driver and a hammer going to town. I called and they said for 38 years they've never had any problems at all.
The place is here: PORTERFIELD TIRE, INC. ATHENS, GA (706) 549-6698 its a local shop which sold me Hankook Evo12 tires for a price that beat them all, even online prices could not beat 'em. I got all 4 tires installed plus a 4 wheel alignment for $780 which was a good deal... but now I feel 'had'. I'm waiting to hear back from the owner later today. If this happened to you would you pursue restitution? |
are you talking about the scratches on the inside of the wheel by the stick-on weights
|
Yes

the only damage that is worth making a fuss over is damage to the face or lip or soem kind of dent or w/e |
yea sometimes those can be a real bitch to get off, i'm with jeff, as long as they didn't damage the outside face of the wheel or bend it i wouldn't be worried about those little marks. and honestly, having worked in a dealership and changed my fair share of tires, its reeeaaallllyyy hard not to scratch the wheels. 99% of the tire machines out there are made for old style wheels not the newer alloys and it makes a difference.

OK. I'll pull back then. I cant really say I recommend porterfield tire but since you live in Anderson, SC they are the best price around for our cars. Location is Athens, GA.

THas a damn cheap pric eon those tires man. were they new?
|
thats an insane price for those tires.
|
Doesn't look too bad, but it seems they could hit them with a torch and use a plastic pry tool and get them off. Just spit-balling though because I've never changed/balanced tires myself.

Looks pretty typical- I'd give 'em some slack.

most tire places will damage the outer cosmetic surface. |

Normal, a little road grime and you'll never noticed it again. That is a smoking deal on the tires though.

They make plastic scrapers to remove those. Most large tire stores use them so that does not happen. I am pretty anal and it would bother me. I take the cores out, no center cap and no weights on the wheels. I also take the wheels in off the car. I know that it may seem a litttle overboard but I have worked in those type of places for years and see how any kind of performance car gets treated. There is not many shops that will take the care you would on your car. I would say something to point out that it matters to some people even if it seems like nothing to others. good luck if you do decide to say something.
