Tires to be balanced?

Just bought a set of 245/45/18 blizzak lm-22s. After I get them mounted, should I also have them balanced? Im trying to save as much $$ as possible. They are slightly used tires

Mounting and balancing go hand in hand. And if you could find a place that only mounted them, you'd be very sorry for not having them balanced afterwards. So yes, they should be balanced.

You're right, better safe then sorry. It looks like my local Pep Boys are my cheapest option. $23 for mount and balance. Everyone else I know are closed on weekends

I don't know of any shops that would mount your tires without balancing them.

You are going to love the Blizzaks, btw. I was kind of frustrated about spending $1600 this week on a winter wheel/tire setup but after my first drive in the snow I realized how that was some of the best money I have ever spent.

dang... my dd's blizzak WS60 tire set with the stolen hubcap look was $530 shipped from TR.

WS60 > LM22 in snow.

I would actually be interested to see how your car drove after mounting w/o balancing. I'm assuming it would be quite a rough ride.

it'll be like taking a kia spectra up to expressway speeds... wobble wobble wobble steering wheel. i talk from experience in canada (hertz rental).

In the snow yes, but in dry pavement it's the other way around.

And yeah, I can price a winter wheel/tire set on Tirerack for my sisters 2002 V6 Mustang for only $592. Makes me so mad.

Yeah it really depends on how far out of balance they are, but on the highway they could definitely be pretty bad!
