I would generally discourage creating a large width differential front to rear as that will throw off the car's natural handling balance.

A 50mm width differential is too much in my personal opinion, you will invite unwanted understeer.

Not ideal, like Chris said you will get a lot of understeer so unless you want your car to push through turns instead of remaining balanced, you should go 275/305 or 265/295.

Wider front tires can sometimes reduce steering precision. How did the 275/35's on the front affect the steering? The 265/295 or 275/305 sizing appeals to my "Bigger is Better" nature so I am eager to hear your feedback.

I think the results may vary by tire, but with the RE-11's the steering is very precise. I was able to consistently win at our local auto-x events in the unlimited street tire class. With a softer sidewall tire I would have some concern of tire roll causing numbness, but it just hasn't happened with this tire. My tire guy hates them though, he always has a battle getting it onto the rim.

I have the 265/305 setup on my TE37s. I will agree that they track considerably more than the stock tires on uneven payment. However they have serious grip. With the TT setup you are probably going to want as much grip in the rear as possible.
My tire guy told me the same thing.
