Refinished wheels vs OEM

Default Refinished wheels vs OEM

Has anyone had any experience with having their curb rashed wheels refinished in the original hyper silver color? How does it look compared to the factory wheels? Any noticeable difference you can tell just by looking? My mobile wheel repair guy said that matching factory OEM hyper silver color is not 100%. According to him, the best that he can do is 90-95% OEM color matching and if anyone else says that they can do 100% color matching then they're lying. Any truth to this? I don't know if I should go ahead and refinish two wheels or buy two used but undamaged wheels.

It's all in the skill and eye of the repair man, as there is no exact match to the factory paint job, which is a two stage paint I believe. I had my curb rash repaired and you can not tell any difference in color, looks like it did before the accident. Then again, my guy does a lot of hyper silver repairs for most of the dealers in town, and is very good. YMMV, depends on the skill of your guy.

$50, it wasn't a large area, on the lip and about 3 inches long.

Was this a complete refinish or just a touch up job?

It will look like any other pic of a sport wheel with no damage, you can't see the touch-up.

....I've seen someone on here's before and after shots of curb rash repair on the stock sports. You can not tell the difference or even find the spots again.

Mine are in for repair right now.... will have to see. The dealer is redoing them to fix the damage done when they air ratcheted off the stock wheels and scraped the paint with the hi speed socket. They are spot repairing but are doing it factory method with the black and silver and clearcoat process....

What is that gonna cost?

I am probably going to just go ahead and get my wheels powdercoated, but I didnt think it would be a good option thru the dealership. Usually costs more thru them.
