MHT vs Strasse

I am looking for Help. I got price quotes on both the MHT Forged Rims and Strasse, both cost about 5,000 dollars. I am needing help does anybody have any thoughts on those rims is there any rims better for that price.

Thanks...

Chris_1 11-29-2010 12:07 PM

Pumdaman, I can get you 3 piece forged Concave stuff for cheaper then that. No one can compete, Forged Specialties my friend, thats all I have to say. Let me know when your ready, b/c with a budjet like that, you should be doing the right stuff.

Yeah, my man knows very well, if you want just regular 3 piece wheels, non concave, you will save several thousand and can get some better tires.

pumadaman 11-29-2010 12:53 PM

So Chris what i am looking for is 20x9 in the front and 20x11 in the back. I want a machined black rim with a red pinstripe. Do you have any suggestions.

Or what else would u reccomend.

Thanks

Thomas, Hopefully I can understand this, you want like a machined face w/ black windows, and then the lip probably to be black with a red pinstripe? Sort of like this wheel, but with a lip and red pinstripe?

pumadaman 11-29-2010 02:29 PM

I love the look of the rim, but i want it all black... The only other color should be the red pinstripe...

Azroadster 11-29-2010 02:47 PM

Those are the TSW Nurburgrings that I have on my Z. They also come in solid gunmetal, not machined like the one in the picture. They are EXTREMELY reasonable as well. Chris will treat you right.

would you mind explaining what makes a wheel such high quality as you describe it? unless i'm mistaken, we are all talking about 3 piece Forged wheels made of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum all offering whatever colors, whatever sizes, with many designs. you mentioned quality 3 times in one post. A money back guarantee is a really nice way to show you stand behind a product, but i'm really curious about what makes strasse such high quality. I'm sure they are high quality, they look like they are, and judging by the clientelle, they are. But considering the cars these are on, (lambo's etc) you're talking about type a clientelle that really doesn't mind shelling out another 2-3k on wheels if you convince them its something better. These are people that equate price with quality, so if wheel x costs more than wheel y, then wheel x is better in their eyes. simple as that. but this isn't a lamborghini forum. its not even a GTR forum. i'm not trying to :stirthepot: but if theres something we are all missing out on in terms of quality, i'd be really curious to know what it is.

This is about to turn into an interesting thread. :stirthepot:

Tommy: Chicken wings! Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting.

Ted Nelson: Go on, I'm listening.

Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to fell all warm and toasty inside.

Ted Nelson: Yeah, makes a man feel good.

Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?

Ted Nelson: What's your point?

Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Buildin' model airplanes!" says the little fairy, well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off your dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I've seen it a hundred times.

Ted Nelson: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?

Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of ****. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I've got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

Ted Nelson: Okay, I'll buy from you.

Here are just a few points of quality:

1) Yes we use 6061 aluminum just like many of the top brands

2) Every wheel is tested and inspected for its strength and quality

3) Stainless Steel Fastners

4) Unlike other manufacturers we do not use vinyl or stickers on our wheels

5) Each Design is tested for DOT and competition use

6) We use the flatest forging possible to ensure the lightest weight possible for our wheels

7) We also have a race prep package that allows us to drop up to a pound of weight per wheel by removing extra material from the wheel while maintaining wheel rigidity.

8) I can go on and on about what makes Strasse Forged a superior product and why you should buy our wheels... but its more than just $$$=Quality that keeps people buying our wheels! The Strasse Forged Product is a brand you will want to stand behind as an owner... Strasse Forged owners love their wheels and you will never hear one bad thing about the wheels from an owner even after years of owning the product!

Plus, I have killer prices on these wheels right now! Puma was quoted a killer price on both CF and on all black with pinstripe!

Choose Strasse Forged you will be happy with your purchase that I can promise!

That movie is a classic! and yeah most people throw a guarantee on a product for just that reason... However, I am putting my personal money on the line!!! How many people would do that?!?

m4a1mustang 11-29-2010 04:30 PM

How many years does it take to make a functional website? Just sayin'.

bullitt5897 11-29-2010 04:37 PM

Mustang I know several Majorly successful and quality companies that do not have a website up and running... A website does not = quality... if that was the case every graphic design artist would have the best quality products period!!!

Unlike other companies we post unedited photos of our wheels right after they are finished for people to view. These photos can be found on facebook or in our Mega thread

Forged Specialties does the same, all unedited straight footage. I think its the way everyone should do it, instead of all the enhancing and photoshop these days. Heck even the photographers are all about technology these days, and their is not ONE manufacturer right now that shows the actual cars with no editing. Forged Specialties has promised this, but I dont want to hold my breath, but they havent failed me yet.

I want to see all these manufacturers do pictures like jeff blue did, where it was about the quality of the photographer and his skill, not his skill on the computer. This way people know what their getting instead of the bloated junk all these companies show. I must be old school haha, I guess its time to get rid of my cell phone and upgrade, what do you guys think?

sounds like a well made product. unless i'm mistaken though, there are regulations in place that wheel manufacturers have to meet. i dont think any john doe can go out there and make wheels in his garage and sell them.

"Though not enforced, there are quality standards to govern the production of wheels. Some countries though, like Germany and Japan, have government regulations requiring aftermarket wheels to meet certain criteria and ensure proper fit. The United States has taken steps to establish guidelines but it will be some time before they can enact regulation of any kind."

bullitt5897 11-29-2010 05:32 PM

Yes there are specific regulations that regulate wheel production... Our wheels meet and exceed those regulations in every aspect!

thats good. My point is really just that pretty much all of the builders for private label brands are outdoing every regulation and standard that they have to pass. 3 piece forged=3piece forged=3piece forged. yea there are slight differences, but you're not going to find a 3 piece forged wheel from a reputable builder, thats NOT going to meet DOT standards.

its kind of like how you just assume that doctors sterilize their tools and don't reuse needles. its not a reason to go to one doctor over another.

Fail to find the lulz...

I have never seen this from a sponsor before, not even on my350z.com.

Some sponsors know when to stop and keep it professional. You blur the line and also wear two many "hats". Just my two cents.
