Volk lugnuts on Sports Rays

Anyone use Volk lugnuts w/ the Sports pkg wheels?

xbigb4ller69z 11-20-2010 04:35 PM

I just ordered mines from concept z performance. I got the black volks (short) because I have spacers on my wheels.

These for $120?

Any pics?

Not a good idea. Aftermarket lugs have a different shape that contacts the wheel. Could cause damage.

I agree. You should not use these lugs with your stock wheels.

most often, OEM wheels use ball-shape lugs, and aftermarket wheels use acorn/tapered lugs:

The Sports pkg wheels are made by Rays so I think the Rays lugnuts will fit w/ no problem at all. I also checked Nissan's locking lug nut part no. 999W2-JT000 (for the 370Z) and they are tapered.

The stock correct lugs are flat with a washer and are not acorn style.
the acorn style locking lugs were for the 350 not 370, there was a tsb to correct this
Only the early 09's had this issue, so any available aftermarket lugs must be a flat washer style to fit correctly on the stock ray wheels.

I along with others who have powedercoated their stock Rays black have long been seeking a vendor that makes the proper flat washer type lug nuts to fit in black. Volk does not make them or I should say several months back when I powdercoated my Rays, they did not, nor did anyone else. Volk at that time only manufactured the stock chrome lugss that come with them and are available from Nissan parts vendors. If anyone finds a vendor that does manufacture them in the correct fitment in black, this would be good news.

Wat triple said. Don't use tapered lugs on your stock wheels. They are completely different by design.

Factory wheels are hubcentric.
Aftermarket wheels are lugcentric.

So I won't be able to use those at all because they damage the stock wheels? So which lug nuts should I run If I'm currently running 15MM spacers in the front and 20MM spacers in the rear.

Great... so it looks like I have to send those back then.

Yes, Use the stock flat washer style lugs.
Paint the lugs and your done.
The End.

That is correct. The tapered design provide less contact area and will actually pop off under pressure. For the Rays you MUST have the flat-style washer lugs .. if anyone finds a vendor who provides them .. please let the 370z community know!

So there isn't 1 VENDOR that actually sells those? I'm not sure why concept z performance would advertise those lug nuts to be compatible with the factory wheels. That really sucks, so basically anyone can go and steal this rims.

Solution: go and buy aftermarket wheels???

I'm interested to know this too.

One question - on the Anniversary cars are the nuts darker to suite the gun metal wheels? If this is the case they might be a good option (not sure of the Nissan price though!)
