Worth while to switch over stock 18 “to 19 “rims and tires?
Hi folks,
Have a few questions, I kinder like how low my car looks and handles presently. I’m just wondering would it be worth my while to switch over from stock 18 “to 19 “rims and tires? If I do go to 19” what else would I have to change from stock settings? I only plan on changing the sway bars, no cambers, springs or coil overs are plan at this point! Thanks beforehand, Alex

You won't have to change anything if you make the switch. Just be aware that your ride quality will suffer as a result.

The 19's will fit fine with no problems. You dont have to upgrade anything necessary. The overall wheel diameter will be the same. That kind of looks like my car, but with a nicer exhaust

easiest way to upgrade is to run the sportpackage 19's or the nismo 19's. the nismo 19's use 285/30/19 on the rear and have a tad more aggressive offset so it will appear to have a slight more wheel gap than the sportpackage 19's.
if you go aftermarket i suggest you find wheels with this spec if you dont plan on lowering: 19x9 front ET27-47 245/40/19 tires 19x10 rear ET15-20 275/35/19 tires |

Thanks guys,
Actually considering the Nismo 19 " rims, but are there any real advantages going with the 19" for regular street and winding Pocono mountain roads? Alex

Well going with those 19's you will be upgrading the width of your wheels which will be a benefit for mountain roads in terms of traction. I doubt the diameter increase will do anything performance wise. The ride isn't that bad going from 18-19 on our cars, but 18 to 20's is a big difference in roughness.

Also you can get away with no spacers with the Nismo wheels, they look great as is! But Sport 19's NEED a spacer...

yah, functionally as toxik explained it if you get grippy tires for you 18's chances are you wont be able to really tell the difference between the 18's and 19's with the RE050's.
the benefit of the 19's sports/nismo wheels is that you can also run larger caliper brakes like the akebono's or even larger as far as function. |

With wide sticky tires on the 19's you have a pretty insane amount of corner grip but it does come at the price of increased road noise, tramlining, etc. In the end though the grip is addictive. Just don't try Summer tires now that it is below 50 degrees most days.

Or put the Avid's on your current rims and get the wide 19's for the sticky summer tires. Obviously they means getting rid of the current 18" tires - could probably sell them if they don't have many miles on them.

I am sticking with 18s when I search for new rims; right now, I am leaning towards Enkei RPF1s in a staggered setup since I want light weight, wider rims and the kicker is that they are very reasonably priced.

Kinder like these Botticelli III from OZ in 19" ! The only issue I see with swapping the 18" stock rims and 19" Botticelli III is once I but the Botticelli's on I my never want to take them off! “LOL”
