Missing Paint on Sport Wheels

Has anyone noticed their wheels missing paint? Specially inside the small triangles and spokes? Mine have some black spots inside. I noticed it when accesing some curb rash damage that I put on one of my front wheels. Thinking to try to get the warranty to cover it any thought?:ugh2:

This is probably the result of some rock chips inside the wheels.

how do you clean them? The paint is a metallic, and if rubbed too hard, it will turn blackish. I wetsand them before powdercoating and they definitely turn black when rubbed with abrasives. I imagine a stiff wheel brush could cause some damage.

If you use harsh cleaners including powerball, magic eraser, and harsh chemicals it will damage ur finish.

Those are most likely small tar spots or caked on brake dust; you can try a tar remover like Stoner's Tarminator to remove them. Tar deposits tend to find their way into small crevices and regular wheel cleaners or car wash solution will not move them.

+1..Always use soap and water. Had this issue with my previous set of SF winnings :shakes head:

it's definitely the finish coming off. A friend of mine on this forum had his sport rims recoated under warranty.

I did not use any chemicals on my wheels, I use the same soap that I use on the car (Meguiars Gold Class). But the wheels indeed are not fully painted on the inside. I found a paint shop willing to is touch up the paint on my wheel (making the Rays Hyper silver color) hopefully it comes out good:ugh2:

That dont sound right. It should be painted even between the spokes....
